Objectives
➢To expose students to the various aspects of industrial practices
and ethics.

➢To appreciate the significance of theoretical knowledge gained


in the University into engineering practice
Overview of the Industrial Training
Program
• Industrial Training is Compulsory. It is a requirement of
BEM/IEM/EAC
• Minimum duration is 12 weeks continuous.
• Duration: 25th February 2019 – 18th May 2019
• Eligibility: - A minimum of 70 credits / 90 credits
- CGPA > 2.0

BEPE : Control System (EEEB 323 / EPPB3034)
BEEE : Control System (EEEB 323 / EPPB3034)
BCCE : Control System (EEEB 323 / EPPB3034)
BME : Theory of Machines (MEMB263/ MEMB2044)

BCE : Reinforced Concrete Design I(CESB343 / CESB3013) and


Geotechnical Design (CEGB333 / CEGB3014)

PRIOR
Placement
• Apply to companies yourself.
• Documents needed for applying:
• Cover letter.
• Curriculum Vitae/ Resume sample available at
(http://lms.uniten.edu.my/moodle/ )
• A student verification letter – download from ITS.
• Copies of transcripts.
PLACEMENT – scholarship
• You are required to consult your sponsor for approved
placement of industrial training.

• All YTN (scholarship/loan), IPP, and other organizations


sponsored students must consult their sponsors to find out if
industrial training placement is provided.
Approval Of Placement
Once your application to a company is successful,
➢ You need to bring the INDUSTRIAL TRAINING APPROVAL FORM and the
Offer Letter/ COMPANY REPLY FORM from the company to your
Department Industrial Training Coordinator for approval.

➢ Submit the INDUSTRIAL TRAINING APPROVAL FORM and the Offer


Letter/ COMPANY REPLY FORM (hard copy) to admin staff at COE Admin
office.

CIDB GREEN CARD Program
• Depends on company’s requirement.

• Students need to apply under company’s name.

• Details, please visit http://cims.cidb.gov.my

• Students are entirely responsible for the CIDB Green Card


application. CIDB Green Card is extremely important especially
for internship opportunities and tasks involving site visit.
DURING
On The First Day
• Take with you:
• Company Offer letter
• Verification letter from University
• All original documents - result slips etc.
• Logbook
• Industrial Training Guideline - give one copy to
company supervisor ** For BCE.
During The First Week
• Register the details in the online ITS system under “Final
placement link”.
• Update the host supervisor details in the ITS system under “
Report Duty link”.
• Complete the report duty form, scan and email to COE admin.

Note : make sure you have registered IT (COEB314) as a subject for


the special Semester.
Expectation
• Different work environment
• maybe different than expected
• do not expect people to give you work - be professional
• Meet people of different level of education and background
• Encounter practical problems
• Be pro active and show responsible attitude in work and learn
What To Look For
• Have a proper training program
• discuss with your host supervisor

• Try to understand the system in your work place


• organization, administrative or practical

• Try to gain as much practical knowledge as possible


Logbook
• Record all the work done or knowledge gained in LOGBOOK

• Maintain logbook

• Learn something new from the training


Etiquette
• Dress properly
• Behave well
• Portray good image as a university student
• Be punctual
• Observe work ethics
• Concern for safety
• Be professional
Take note
• Students are NOT ALLOWED to change the company.

• Read thoroughly before signing any documents.

• In cases of unavoidable unplanned absence e.g. sickness etc., please inform


your host supervisor early the same day.

• Students MUST COMPLY to the organization’s industrial training terms and


the organization’s rules and regulations .

• Should you have further enquires, please contact your industrial training
coordinator.
Visiting Lecturer
Visiting supervisor will visit at least once. (Week 7 – Week 12)
What will the supervisor do during the visit:
• Discuss with the officer in charge of industrial training (host supervisor)
in the company
• activities of the organization
• scope of the industrial training / training schedules
• performance of the students / students progress
• other matters: future IT placements, job opportunity, collaboration
opportunity etc.
• Conduct the oral presentation for you along with the host supervisor.
Students going for Training Overseas
• Please submit Form B: Host Supervisor Evaluation to your host
supervisor for the evaluation.
• The completed form should be returned to the visiting
supervisor (lecturer) in sealed envelope when you come back.
• It is the responsibility of students to submit this from otherwise
you will be awarded FAIL.
• The oral presentation will be conducted on first week the
following semester.

Note: All confidential information (in all forms) owned by the company can only be published with
prior permission
Industrial Training Result
• PASS or FAIL based on marks scored.
• The passing marks will be 50%.
• FAIL result will also be given if YOU:
• FAIL to submit the industrial training's report or logbook.
• FAIL to deliver the Industrial Training Oral Presentation.
• are TERMINATED by the company.
• FACE DISCIPLINARY PROBLEM with host/host company.
• Failure shall result to retaking of COEB314 Industrial Training as it
is the pre-requisite for FYP2.
