A. T-test

Rosenthal and Jacobson (1968) informed classroom teachers that some of their
students showed unusual potential for intellectual gains. Eight months later the students
identified to teachers as having potentional for unusual intellectual gains showed significiantly
greater gains performance on a test said to measure IQ than did children who were not so
identified. Below are the data for the students in the first grade:

B. One-Way Anova

A random sample of the students in each row was taken.

The score for those students on the second exam was recorded.

 Front: 82, 83, 97, 93, 55, 67, 53

 Middle: 83, 78, 68, 61, 77, 54, 69, 51, 63

 Back: 38, 59, 55, 66, 45, 52, 52, 61

The summary statistics for the grades of each row are shown in the table below

Row Front Middle Back

Sampe Size 7 9 8
Mean 75.71 67.11 53.50
St. Dev. 17.63 10.95 8.96
Variance 310.90 119.86 80.29

C. Two Way-Anova with replication

A chemical engineer collected a data on the enzyme activity of mannose-6-phosphate

isomerase (MPI) and MPI genotypes in the amphipod crustacean Platorchestia platensis.
Because she didn't know whether sex also affected MPI activity, she separated the amphipods by
sex. The results are presented below:

D. Two Way-Anova without replication

A chemical engineer is studying the effects of various reagents and catalysts on the yield
of a certain process. There is a combination among three reagents and four catalysts. The
results are presented below:

Catalyst Reagent
1 2 3
A 84.85 89.13 85.28
B 75.35 79.40 84.65
C 70.30 76.65 78.20
D 73.18 81.10 77.23

Develop a complete analysis of variance table for two factor and it is possible the main effects of
catalyst (Treatments) and reagent (blocks) are all differences at α=0.01?
