ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Watch BBC: Planet Earth. This is a documentary film that advocates protecting the mother
earth. After watching this documentary, go to your respective groups and answer the following
questions:
It was clearly that the documentary promotes the awareness of climate change together
with its effect on living things here on earth. It depicts that, as a superior being here on earth we
must protect our environment and all other being on it.
2. Enumerate specific details that justify your answer in item number one?
The documentary uncovered various cases where animals are having trouble in living &
some of them are on the verge of extinction. It is all because the effect of climate change. It
showed the animals living in dangerous environment or place which is not suitable for them.
3. Based on the documentary, how important are the water, air, and land to human
beings?
Air, water, and land had a vital role into human beings these are the basic and necessary
components to prolong and sustain our life. Lacking these components, humans and other beings
might find difficult to live easily and might end up being dead since they’re unable to sustain their
life
4. What is your realization after having watched the documentary? Now, what is the
status of the earth’s ecology? Why do we need to preserve our environment?

I realized that I should take care of this environment which I used to sustain my life. If we continue
to mistreat and abandon the resources from our environment, it’ll just return to us, our wrongdoing
will bring us to sufferings which will result to calamities.

It is one of the various ecological challenges in the Philippines. It is how the people control
and solve challenges concerning solid wastes. There have been several ordinances from different
barangays, municipalities, cities, and provinces that aim to address this matter. Efforts of the
Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Philippines are overwhelming but it must be a joint effort
of the LGUs and its community that can actually make it work.
It is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that alters the composition of the global
atmosphere and which is in addition to natural climate variability over comparable time periods. It
is primarily caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, trapping heat of
the sun commonly known as the greenhouse effect.
3. What are the legal bases in the Philippines concerning environmental protection?
Republic Act 8749: June 23, 1999, “Philippines Clean Air Act of 1999” - An act providing
for a comprehensive air pollution control policy and for other purposes.
Republic Act No. 9147 – An act providing for the conservation and protection of wildlife
resources and their habitats, appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes.
Republic Act No. 9175 – An act regulating the ownership, possession, sale, importation
and use of chainsaws, penalizing violations thereof and for other purposes

We will shift into new paradigm from old, where the old paradigm form only a straight line
which from raw materials straight into dumpsite very unlikely from new paradigm which promotes
a cycle which raw materials goes into waste and this waste will be recycled into reusable form
which will be used again as raw material.
