1. CONTENT:

Mr. Jay presented himself with his confusion about being depressed. He asked, “Ma’am, paano
po ba masasabi na may depression ka na?”. He narrated that he feels confused about himself and
the happenings around him. He stated that he hates himself because he couldn’t manage his time
wisely unlike before. Since most of the time there is no one in their house, due to their respective
jobs, he just spent most of his time in the computer shop playing “League of Legend”. He explained
that he felt happy and satisfied when he is playing the said online game. There came a time that
he felt guilty when he noticed himself spending more time in the computer shop and couldn’t help
himself playing, he felt lazy doing his tasks. He further stated, that he misses his old self, someone
who spends time with his book. He also reported that 3 Saturdays prior to the session, he slashed
his wrist with a pointed object and felt numb. He was in a state of confusion that time and felt guilty
after the incident. He also reported about his mood swings and frustrations when things don’t go
according to plan, just what happened in one incident inside their classroom. He stated that he
needed someone to talk to and make things clear for him. He also stated his goal of making it on
the honor roll despite the tasks demand. He showed enthusiasm to change and said that he’ll try
to lessen his time in the computer shop and will not harm himself again.

2. PROCESS OBSERVATIONS:

Mr. Jay arrived at the counseling room in his tidy school uniform. He appeared anxious at the
beginning of the session, he was talking with a high-toned voice while holding a stress ball that
was available at the counseling room. He also finds difficulty establishing eye contact and in
expressing his thoughts but became more relaxed and spontaneous in expressing his thoughts as
the session progressed.

3. CASE CONCEPTUALIZATION:

Mr. Jay’s family’s current financial problem contributes to his confusion and frustration about his
current state of life. He is in a state where he couldn’t accept their current situation that is different
from their previous financial state of comfort. Thus, led his family members to seek jobs to support
their family’s needs. This caused his feeling of being alone in their house always and couldn’t find
someone to talk to especially if he has some concerns. He couldn’t also seek the support and
attention of his close friends due to the conflict of their schedules, thus worsen his feeling of
loneliness. Playing computer games is his way to compensate this feeling as it gives immediate
satisfaction to him.

4. INTERVENTIONS:

 Monitor his feeling of loneliness and suicidal ideation


 Conduct a Parent’s conference and family counseling with the assigned counselor to
address the need of the client and for the awareness of the parents of their child current
situation.
 Establish and clarify long term goals with the counselee to redirect attention to more
productive matters than focusing on the negative way of life.
 Orient the counselee about time management, handling emotion and finances and the
nature of depression.
