Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
I felt that the field experience was very successful. I learned a lot about how to enroll people into
coaching sessions and I learned a lot about the partnership method of coaching. I felt like a was
successful at addressing the needs that Ms. Bortles had expressed to me and I think that she will
be able to carry out the goals that she created for implementing technology into her classroom. I
feel that I have gained confidence in my ability to provide coaching in instructional technology
and feel like I can take on bigger challenges in the future. I plan to continue to aid Ms. Bortles as
she completes her first year of teaching and also seek other candidates who are looking for
coaching opportunities at Dacula High School.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)

Knowledge- I felt that it was important to know how comfortable Ms. Bortles was with using
technology in her classroom. Considering she had just graduated from college, I was confident
that was very comfortable technology, but did not know how she was able to implement in her
classroom. This was important to know as I made plans to help her assess students, and
differentiate instruction to transform learning in her classroom.

Skills- I have gained valuable skills to help me enroll colleagues into coaching sessions
throughout this course. I have also learned different approaches such as the partnership approach
to carry out my coaching sessions, which is important moving forward. I al so have gained skill
sin planning coaching sessions and managing my time to get the most out of my time.

Dispositions- I feel that I was able to conduct the coaching sessions in a very professional
manner which keeping a positive attitude. I feel that my excitement for the tools that I introduced
to Ms. Bortles carried over to her and she had a great attitude about the time we spent in our
coaching sessions. We focused on the technology goals of Dacula High School, which helped me
implement technology tools that can transform student learning in her class.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

This field experience impacted faculty development by helping Ms. Bortles become more efficient
in implementing technology into her classroom to assess students’ knowledge and differentiate
instruction to meet the needs of each student. This will also affect the school improvement by
having students perform at a higher level in Ms. Bortles Word History classes. The impact can be
assessed by looking at the overall performance of Ms. Bortles students on district assessments and
state test. It can also be assessed by comparing her student’s performance before the coaching
sessions to her students’ performance after the coaching sessions.
