Diocese of Antipolo – Ministry for Youth Affairs

Opening Song: Face of God

GIRLS: To see the face of God is my heart’s desire

To gaze upon the Lord is my one desire
BOYS: For God so love the world
He gave his son, his only begotten son.

1) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF CHASTITY

‘Chastity – a virtue of sexual abstinence, especially before marriage.’

Video Watching: Liturgy – Chastity

Reflection (ALL): Recall the time when you find yourself struggling with
sexual temptation? How did you respond to it? How did it make you feel?

Representative: Let us pray to God who has given us our body. Let us ask for
forgiveness for failing to keep it pure, clean and healthy for His service and
our eternal happiness. May God forgive us for all our unfaithfulness in this
great responsibility. May He give us the grace to free our minds from any
impure and lustful thoughts. We ask God to help us to keep our eyes from
pornography, as it degrade s us. May, by his mercy, will we have the courage
to speak with grace and not tell or laugh at green jokes nor share or listen
to stories which evoke sexual thoughts and behavior. Lord, make us chaste.
Send your Holy Spirit to remind us to treat our body for what it truly is-the
temple of the Holy Spirit. May our body be the servant of our soul, and may
both body and soul be your servants. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Silent Prayer

Presider: Lord God, our hunger and thirst for chastity is reflected in our
society’s need for you, in a world where sacredness of love, sex and marriage
is endangered through ignorance, selfishness and wrong use of media look with
mercy upon us. The sins against the virtue of chastity is an open wound on the
body of contemporary society. Teach us to become a man or woman after God’s
own heart that we may learn to love purely. May we defend the gift of our body
and sexuality and always carry with us your image and likeness so that we
could live out your greatness and holiness through Christ, our model or
purity, our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

2) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF TEMPERANCE

‘Temperance – a virtue of control over excess.’

Video Watching: Liturgy – Temperance

Reflection (ALL): Do you often consume too much of something like food,
alcoholic drink, Facebook (Social Media) surfing and texting?

Representative: Let us pray to God with Jesus his son who practiced
temperance. He was the model of self-restraint, never over-indulging in the
temporal. Our body, being the Temple of the Lord, must be treated with outmost
respect. Self-abuse destroys the body-be it alcohol, drugs, or excess food.
Lord Jesus, bestow fortitude upon us, for our soul to control our body to
practice the virtue of temperance. Jesus, you are the source of our vigor.
Through you, all is possible.

Silent Prayer

Presider: Almighty Father, we are your children and your blessings come upon
us through the food that we eat and through the things we consume. But at
times, we think only of ourselves, of the pleasure of consuming too much. Your
son Jesus gained a crowning grace because he prepared for it by a life of
self-denial. By faithfulness in smaller things he was ready for his final
trial. Please teach us by his example and help to use the good things of life
with regulation and control so that we may not miss our chance for the more
important things in life. Help us, too, to watch and pray for ourselves and
others, through Christ our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

3) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF CHARITY

‘Charity – virtue of loving kindness to others.’
Video Watching: Liturgy – Charity

Reflection (ALL): Do you see Jesus in your neighbor? Do you care for them? Do
you love them or neglect them?

Representative: Let us thank the Lord for the many graces and blessings he
has placed in our lives. Let us offer our heart-felt gratitude for his
countless gifts to us each day. In turn, let us ask our dear Lord to help us
to be aware of the needs of our least sisters and brothers, and to respond to
those who are poor and less fortunate with generous expressions of charity. We
pray that on that day Lord, when we finally stand before you to give an
account of our lives, we will hear you say, “Come O good and faithful servant
to share your Father’s joy, for when you saw me hungry, thirsty, naked,
homeless, ill and imprisoned, you offered your gifts in charity and you
lovingly did it for me.”
Amen.

Silent Prayer

Presider: Lord God, you continue to bless the world through the poverty of
Christ, who makes himself poor in the sacraments, in his word and in his
church, which are the people of the poor and the needy. In our imitation of
our Master, we Christians are called to confront the needs of our brothers and
sisters, to touch it, to make it our own and to take practical steps to be of
help. Through our neighbor we see Christ’s face; by loving and helping them,
we love and serve Christ. Grant us the simplicity and sharing so that we will
be able to truly love like Jesus, through Christ our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

4) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF DILIGENCE

‘Diligence – the virtue of hard work.’

Video Watching: Liturgy – Diligence

Reflection (ALL): Do you always find work exciting or difficult? What

triggers your laziness?
Representative: Let us look back in the moments that we have failed to use
entertained laziness rather than hard work and diligence. Let us pray to God
to help us to understand that no good thing will come to us without
persistence.

Silent Prayer

Presider: Heavenly Father, you comfort and give rest to all those who labor.
We are often overwhelmed by the cost of working in your vineyard without
recognizing its eternal reward. In our experience of true labor, open us to
the true beauty of sacrifice and hard work. May we see Hesus, who never stops
unless the job is done. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

5) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF PATIENCE

‘Patience – the virtue to persevere in the face of delay.’

Video Watching: Liturgy – Patience

Reflection (ALL): Are you waiting for something? How much can you wait?

Representative: Let us pray to God whose timing is perfect. May we put in him
our full trust for our lives and our circumstances. Lord, thank you for
providing is the needs we have right now. And thank you for the blessings that
are yet to come. Even if we never see the fulfillment of our heart’s desire,
we will still honor you with our life. Gracious God, it’s so hard to wait: to
wait for new things to happen in our lives; to wait for you to answer our
prayers; to wait for the open doors that may lead us into a new way of being.
During the time of waiting, it seems that all we can think of is having what
it is we are waiting for. At times we feel weary of asking and waiting and we
sometimes wonder if you really hear our prayers at all, if you are ignoring
us, or if you are simply refusing to give us our heart’s desire. A part of us
know that you want our best, and that your time is not our time, but Lord, it
is still so hard to wait. We pray for peace, patience and perseverance as we
put our hopes in you. Thank you for comforting us during this time of waiting
and for leading us in the way to everlasting life. You are our comfort, Lord,
and we are fully satisfied. Amen.
Silent Prayer

Presider: Lord God, the pledge of your kingdom is promised to those who
endure the suffering of waiting for the sake of your name. Deepen our trust, O
Lord, during the times when our heart longs for what can only come in the
fullness of time. Give us a calm assurance than anything we could ever
imaging. We ask this through your son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

6) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF KINDNESS

‘Kindness – is a virtue with pleasant disposition and great concern for
others.’

Video Watching: Liturgy – Kindness

Reflection (ALL): Can your friends describe you a kind person?

Representative: Let us admit to God our being unkind: for the times when we
were tempted to make judgements about actions, behaviors, even the looks of
others as a way of making ourselves feel better; when we treat others without
being mindful about where the other person is coming from. Let us pray to the
Lord to make us be more like Him. Let us invite him to be with us every day.
Help us Lord to treat each person we encounter as we would like to be treated,
and fill us with your loving kindness so that our thoughts, words, and deeds
flow from your spirit of unconditional love.

Silent Prayer

Presider: Almighty Father, we are grateful for the kindness and generosity
you show us every day and we ask that you help us see those around us in the
same way you do – as loved and treasured people. Conform our hearts to be like
yours and activate our hands by your spirit at work within us so as to
participate with you in showing kindness and generosity to others each day,
through Christ our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

7) CONFESSION OF SINS AGAINST THE VIRTUE OF HUMILITY

‘Humility – is a virtue of lowering one self.’

Video Watching: Liturgy – Humility

Reflection (ALL): How honest are you to God about your weaknesses and
shortcomings?

Representative: Let us remember the times when we seek others’ gaze, hunt
for high places and over cared about our prominence; for the times when we
know already our weaknesses but didn’t have the courage to amit it; for the
times we failed to think first about the people. Let us pray to God to help is
care less about pride and avoid self-centeredness. Direct us O God to the
lowliest seat and to the places where we will not be noticed. Inspire us to do
good things in a hidden way. Amen.

Silent Prayer

Presider: Almighty Father, who both by your example and precept, instructed
us to be meek and humble, give us the grace throughout our whole life, in
every though, and word, and work, to imitate your meekness and humility.
Mortify in us the whole body of pride; grant us to feel that we are nothing
and have nothing but shame and contempt, misery and punishment. Grant, O Lord,
that we may look for nothing; , claim nothing; and that we may go through all
the scenes of life, wholly unto you, and acting wholly for you. We ask this
through Christ our Lord.

Kyrie (ALL): Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Kristo, kaawaan mo kami (2x)
Panginoon, kaawaan mo kami (2x)

Reflective Song:
Lord I Need You by Chris Tomlin

Verse:
Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without you I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart
Chorus:
Lord, I need you, oh I need you
Every hour I need you
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need you

Verse:
Where sin runs deep
Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where you are
And where you are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Yes where you are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Bridge:
So teach my song to rise to you
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on you
Jesus you’re my hope and stay
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on you
Jesus you’re my hope and stay

Concluding Prayer:
Presider: Most merciful Father, your son – Jesus Christ, the judge of the
living and the dead, in the humility of His first coming redeemed humanity
from sin and in His glorious return will demand an account of every sin. Grant
that we, your servants, who by the grace of the Holy Spirit, recognize our
shortcomings and sins and turn back to you in whole-hearted repentance, may we
experience your mercy and receive the forgiveness of our sins. We ask this
through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Confessio Laudis (Confession Proper)

Presider: God will never abandon us. He will always be with us to help us go
back to the right path, to rectify our wrongdoings, to fill up what is lacking
and to show us the way back to him. For where sin abounds, his grace abounds
all the more. Assured of his presence and assistance, of his mercy and
compassion let us praise him in words of Mary. With Mary, let us sing our
Magnificat.

Magnificat by Hangad
Koro:
Ang puso ko’y nagpupuri
Nagpupuri sa Panginoon
Nagagalak ang aking Espiritu
Sa ‘king tagapagligtas

Sapagkat nilingap n’ya

Kababaan ng kanyang alipin
Mapalad ang pangalan ko
Sa lahat ng mga bansa

Sapagkat gumawa ang Poon

Ng mga dakilang bagay
Banal sa lupa’t langit
Ang pangalan ng Panginoon

NOTE: RECEIVING THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

 Before Confession:
Be truly sorry for your sins. The essential act of penance, on the part of the
penitent, is contrition, a clear and decisive rejection of the sins committed,
together with a resolution not to commit again, out of the love one has for
God and which is reborn with repentance. The resolution to avoid committing
these sins in the future (amendment) is a sure sign that your sorrow is
genuine and authentic. This does not mean that a promise never to fall again
into sin is necessary. A resolution to try to avoid the near occasions of sins
suffices for the true repentance. God’s grace in cooperation with the
intention to rectify your life will give your strength to resist and overcome
temptation in the future.

 During Confession:
Begin with your confession with the sign of the cross, “In the name of the
Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. My last confession was
___________ (weeks, months, years) ago.”

Say the sins that you remember. Start with the one(s) that is most difficult
to say. (In order to make a good confession the faithful must confess all the
mortal sins, according to kind and number.) After confessing all the sins you
remember since your last good confession, you may conclude by saying, “I am
sorry for these and all the sins of that I’ve done in my past.”

Listen to the words of the priest. He will assign you some penance. Doing the
penance will diminish the temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven.
When invited, express some prayer of sorrow or Act of Contrition such as:

Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my
sins because of your just punishment, but most of all because they offend you,
my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with
the help of your grace, to sin no more and avoid the near occasions of sin.

 At the End of Confession:

Listen to the words of absolution, the sacramental forgiveness of the Church
through the ordained priest.

As you listen to the words of forgiveness you may make the sign of the cross
with the priest.

 After Confession:
Give thanks to God for forgiving you again. If you recall some serious sin you
forgot to tell, rest assured that it has been forgiven with the other, but be
sure to confess it in your next confession.

Prayer of Thanksgiving After Confession:

Merciful Lord, with a pure heart I thank you for taking away my sins. Let your
Holy Spirit guide my life so that my soul may bear fruit of love, joy, peace
and patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Renew my desire to be your faithful friend and servant, increase my loving
dependence on you, and grant me that joy and peace of heart which comes from
doing your holy will, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Do your assigned Penance. Resolve to turn to the Sacrament of Reconciliation

often. We Catholics are fortunate to have the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It
is the ordinary way for us to have our sins forgiven. This sacrament is a
powerful help to get rid of our weaknesses, grow in holiness and lead a
balanced and virtuous life.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation consists of three actions: Repentance,
Confession and Reparation.
