Making a CSRC SDL Booking on Resource Booker

We have a new booking system for CSRC’s SDL facilities – Resource Booker. Below are
some instructions on how to make a booking, but first there are a few basic
administrative rules to bear in mind:

1. SDL is generally open to students from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday – Friday, but
is closed on bank holidays, on clinical competency/ISCE days and occasionally for
other CSRC commitments. However, we try to keep SDL closures to an absolute
minimum.
2. You may book one of three areas within CSRC:
a. The General SDL Room - for skills such as physical examinations, basic life
support and non-sharps procedures e.g. catheterisation, ECG recording;
b. The Sharps SDL Room - for skills involving sharps risk e.g. venepuncture,
cannulation, injection techniques, ABGs and suturing;
c. The SimSuite - for skills such as defibrillation or when you need to use SimMan.
3. The rooms allow a maximum of 16 students in the General SDL Room, 8 students
in the Sharps SDL Room and 4 students in the Simsuite at any one time.
4. You can only book a slot for specific time periods:
a. General SDL can be booked up to 3 times per day for up to 1 hour each time
b. Sharps SDL can be booked up to 3 times per day for up to 1 hour each time
c. The SimSuite can be booked up to twice per day for up to 30 mins each time
5. There is no facility to book on behalf of other students. If you want to practice
together, each student needs to book a slot in their own profile. Please do not add
others’ names to your booking.
6. If you make a booking which you subsequently cannot make, please remember to
cancel it to allow another student to use this space.
7. You will only be permitted to use the SDL rooms if you have a booking, although
bookings can be made on-the-spot.
HOW TO MAKE A BOOKING:

1. Login to Resource Booker at https://resourcebooker.plymouth.ac.uk using

your usual Plymouth University username and password.
2. You will arrive on the ‘Make a Booking’ page. You have three choices of SDL
area to book depending on the skills you want to practice – select which area
you’d like to book by clicking on the appropriate icon/button.
3. To make an advance booking, click on one of the available slots, e.g. ‘CSRC
General SDL 05’ and a calendar will open showing availability over the current
week. You can select dates further ahead by clicking on the black right-arrow
in the top right of the calendar.
4. Click on your chosen start time for the booking and a pop-up window will
appear. Insert the start and finish times. NB – if you select more than the
maximum allowed you will receive an error message.
5. ENTER THE SKILL YOU WISH TO PRACTICE in the ‘Title’ field; e.g. ‘Adult BLS’ or
‘IM Injection’ – this will highlight to the staff what equipment you will require.
6. Click the ‘Book’ button to confirm the booking. A pop-up window will confirm
acceptance and you will receive an email reminder to your PU email account.
7. Check your booking. If you have booked in error you can cancel the booking
at this point. Alternatively, you can click on your booking in the calendar view
in the ‘My Bookings’ page and cancel it from there.
8. To make an immediate booking tick the ‘AVAILABLE NOW’ checkbox on the
right; this will then display only the slots with current availability. You can
then select a slot and continue the booking as above.
9. You can set specific dates and times to check availability of slots in advance
using the calendar functions on the right.
10. You can check the bookings you have made on the ‘My Bookings’ menu
option on the left of the screen. The system will display them in a calendar
view.
