Firecrackers

Cannabis in edibles has been popular in the United States since the 1960s. After all,
consuming it as a scrumptious snack is one of the most delightful ways to medicate or
induce an altered state of consciousness. Not only does it taste delicious, but the effects of
cannabis-laced edibles last longer. What's more, it is also great for sharing with friends.
When it comes to edibles, there is no such thing as a shortage of recipes because cannabis
can be incorporated in baked goods, soups, gummy bears, beverages, and many more. And,
one of the most popular treats is weed firecracker. It is also simple to make, one that does
not take too much time and effort.
For those who have never tried making edibles before, weed firecracker is an excellent
choice for its ease of preparation, and it is indeed delicious. Because it uses only three
ingredients - crackers, peanut butter (or any spread with fat and oils), and ground cannabis
(or AVB), making it takes only a few minutes.
Firecrackers are well-known for the potency of its effects. Although it takes 30-90 minutes
before one can feel its impact, the psychedelic high is not only potentially intense but could
also last between 4-7 hours. In contrast, inhalation through smoking or vaping takes effect
within minutes but tapers after 2-4 hours.
Weed firecracker is a tried and tested edibles recipe. However, its potency depends on
some factors including the brand of peanut butter or spread used, amount of cannabis used,
and whether or not the weed has been decarboxylated.
The choice of peanut butter or spread that will be used in the recipe is tantamount to the
success of the firecracker. This is because tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a water-insoluble
compound. Thus, it must bind itself to oil for it to be absorbed into the body. For this
reason, the peanut butter chosen must be non-hydrogenated and contains a lot of natural
oil. Using brands that do not have enough oil results in a tasty treat but it will not trigger
the desired psychoactive effects of cannabis.
The amount of ground cannabis will also dictate how potent the effects will be. For first
time users, the recommended dosage is around 0.5-1 grams per firecracker. Adding more
to the mix will result in stronger effects.
The ground cannabis must also be decarboxylated before its psychoactive effects could be
harnessed. This is achieved by exposing it in high temperatures. Heat causes the non-
psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol acid (THCA) to be converted to the psychoactive THC.
Apart from recreational use, the compounds found in cannabis also have therapeutic
properties.
For instance, cannabidiol (CBD) is widely recognized for its analgesic effects. It also has
anticonvulsive properties that reduce seizures without inducing the high. CBD offers relief
from a myriad of discomforts caused by diseases because of its anti-inflammatory,
anxiolytic, antidepressant, and antiemetic properties.
Even the compound responsible for the high, THC, also has benefits for medical users.
Besides helping in relieving pain, it also mitigates nausea and vomiting. Studies also found
that it aids in improving the appetite of chemotherapy and AIDS patients.
Terpenes, more attributed for its role in the fragrance of cannabis, also synergizes the
entourage or the combined effects of the different cannabinoids. As such, it enhances the
sedating, painkilling, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant and anti-anxiety
properties.

If the desired effects are mostly for relaxation purposes, an Indica strain with high CBD
levels is highly recommended. For stimulation and focus, a balanced Sativa/Indica hybrid is
ideal. If the cannabis is being used as a medication, then strains with higher CBD content is
recommended. Lastly, if consumption is for the psychoactive effects, then the ones with
high THC content is ideal.
To a certain extent, it is also a discreet way of consuming edibles as it does not carry much
of the characteristic smell of the strain.
Instructions:
2. Grind the cannabis into a coarse grain, or cut it to small bits using a pair of scissors.
This would enable the THC to decarboxylate and bind in the peanut butter oil
quickly.
3. Spread a dollop of peanut butter on one side of the saltine crackers. Make sure to
use peanut butter with plenty of oil so that more THC can bind to it. Avoid using
hydrogenated peanut butter as it prevents natural peanut oil from separating and
rising to the top of the jar.
4. Sprinkle the ground cannabis evenly on top of the peanut butter. If unsure, use only
a small amount (less than 1 gram per cracker) and increase it the next time if
preferred.
5. Sandwich the weed and peanut butter together. Ensure that the ground weed is
entirely covered with peanut butter.
6. Wrap it in aluminum foil and pop it in the oven for 25 minutes. Let it cool to room
temperature before consuming it.
2. Peanut Butter and Nutella AVB Firecracker
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of AVB
1 graham crackers (split into three)
Organic, non-hydrogenated peanut butter
Nutella
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C). This temperature is lower compared to baking
fresh cannabis buds because the AVB has already been decarboxylated.
3. Spread a healthy amount of peanut butter on one part of the graham cracker and
spread Nutella on the remaining two.
4. Sprinkle AVB dust on top of the crackers then sandwich it all together (the piece
with peanut butter in the middle).
5. Cover it with aluminum foil and pop it in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Do not let it
stay for longer than 20 minutes because the AVB has already been decarboxylated
when it was vaporized. Too much heat for more extended periods of time will not do
the AVB any good.
6. Remove from oven and let it cool to room temperature before serving.
1 tablespoon of AVB (it is also possible to use half AVB and half fresh buds)
2 graham crackers (each broken down into 3 pieces)
Peanut butter
Melted chocolate bars or Nutella
Large marshmallows
Instructions:
3. Torch the marshmallow and put it on one side of the graham crackers.
Instructions:
1. Setup a double-broiler by boiling water in a pan and putting a heat-safe bowl on top
of it.
2. Put in and melt the frozen cannabutter. After it has melted, add Nutella in the
mixture.
3. Remove from heat then let it cool in room temperature for a few minutes.
1 cup of butter
1 cup of water
7-10 grams of decarboxylated ground cannabis bud
1. Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of butter into a saucepan. Adding water helps to
regulate the temperature and prevents the butter from scorching.
3. As the butter begins to melt, add in the coarsely ground cannabis bud.
4. Maintain low heat (ideally above 160ºF but never exceeding 200ºF) and let the
mixture simmer for 2-3 hours while stirring occasionally. It should never come to a
full boil.
5. Set a funnel on top of a glass jar and line it with cheesecloth. Pour the butter mixture
onto the cheesecloth. Refrigerate.
5. Firecracker Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 gram of cannabis (stems and seeds removed, and ground to a fine powder)
4 tablespoons Nutella
3 cups milk
4 graham crackers
4 jumbo marshmallows (optional)
2 cups chocolate gelato (optional)
Instructions:
2. Spread Nutella all over the graham cracker and sprinkle it with the finely ground
cannabis.
4. Remove the s’mores from the oven, break them into tiny pieces and further grind it
using a blender.
5. Add milk and chocolate gelato to the ground firecracker s’mores. Blend until the
consistency is visibly smooth.
For medical users, if there is one downside to consuming cannabis as edibles, then it is time
it takes before the effects kick into the body. In other words, it is not suitable if the purpose
requires a quick onset of the therapeutic properties. However, if that is not a necessity,
then the comfort it provides is better than the traditional method as its effects last twice or
thrice as long.
Weed firecracker is a tried and tested recipe that delivers cannabis in the body in the form
of a delectable treat. As an added bonus, it is quick and easy to make so even people who
are not kitchen savvy can definitely whip up a batch.
