Assalamu alaikom warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu!

Adolescence (aged 10-19 years old) is a pivotal transition in the life stage of a pubescent. It is a critical
point in which utmost guidance and health information is a much need.

Concern for the health of the adolescents prompted the Department of Health to create the Adolescent
Health and Development Program (AHDP) in 2013 to ensure that all adolescents will have access to
quality comprehensive health care and services in an adolescent-friendly environment. The program
envisions a “well-informed, empowered, responsible and healthy adolescents.”

To aid the health care providers in conducting health education sessions and USAPANG
BARKADAHAN among adolescents, Healthy Young Ones Flip-Tarpaulin was designed with the
following topics: puberty, reproductive system (fertility), menstruation, gender and health, reproduction
and responsibility (love and romantic relationships, early sexual initiation, teenage pregnancy), sexually
transmitted infections, and HIV and AIDS. This offers a wealth of ASRH (Adolescent Sexuality and
Reproductive Health) information to pave the way for desirable behavioral changes and development
of critical life skills among adolescents toward the improvement of their health and well-being.

The Municipal Office of Ditsaan Ramain supports this program and thus would like to request your good
office to allow us to conduct sessions in all Secondary Schools from 9–11am (specific schedules as to
which class per day will be up to your office) with a maximum of 20 students per session.

As per Administrative Order No. 2013-0013, released by the Department of Health, with subject
“National Policy and Strategic Framework on Adolescent Health and Development” the Local
Government Unit is expected to observe its function to Adolescent Health and Development Program
such as provision of reproductive health information, care and supplies as well as provision of basic
adolescent health care services which may include, but not limited to, operation and maintenance of
facilities and equipment necessary for the delivery of a full range of health services. The LGU should
also ensure meaningful participation of adolescents and communities in this process. Attached herewith
is the copy of the said Administrative Order.

In this light, may we request your good office to make necessary activities to ensure the full
implementation of this program such as Board Resolution that will address the urgency to construct
AHDP infrastructure as well as provision of equipment necessary for the health and development of
this adolescents.
