What do you think is the most important Scientific Discovery?

The scientific revolution is a time period where many scientific discoveries were made that
changed the way humanity viewed and studied science. The characteristic of the scientific
revolution was a spirit of inquiry, a sense that nature could actually be understood rather than just
accepted as a religious mystery. The revolution has been strengthened by more plausible
discoveries in the fields of chemistry, biology and physics. The universal law of gravitation was
established, elements were discovered and the use of cadavers for experimentations has been
normalized, thanks to scientists like sir Isaac Newton, sir Robert Boyle and Dr. William Harvey.
Amidst the great discoveries that leveraged the world into a place that seems impossible centuries
before, how do you identify the most important discovery? What is the most important Scientific
Discovery?

In situations where we choose the greatest among the greats, it’s easy to get lost to the
world of firsts and pioneers but what we fail to analyze is gaging the impact of certain discoveries
to its application to the universe. For what it’s worth the discovery of the “Universal Law of
Gravitation” by Sir Isaac Newton is the most important scientific discovery. It can be easily
assumed that the law only applies to free-falling objects but what most don’t understand, is that
gravity applies to everything in the universe. Having the ability to understand the governing motion
not only of the earth but everything that is around it, gives us speed of light level head start in the
field of science. Newton's law of universal gravitation is about the universality of gravity.
Meaning, the said sections of the law doesn’t differ from case to case basis thus giving us much
broader application for the existence of the universe. Newton's law of gravity is applicable to any
pair of masses anywhere on the universe. It holds good for macro bodies like constellations,
satellites & holds equally good for micro bodies like protons, neutrons, anywhere all the time.

Many inventions and discoveries are associated to this law. The ocean high tides and low
tides are connected to this law. The discovery of the planets Neptune and Uranus and even Pluto
used this law to search for these planets. Planetary travel or space travel used also this law the
launching of artificial satellites to orbit the earth depend on this law. The masses of heavenly
bodies such as the sun, stars, moon and planets were computed using this law. The decrease of
weight as one goes away from the surface of the earth is predicted by this law. It’s actually on that
account, probably the most important force there is in existence.
