Focus for this term
The focus at preschool for this term was Ramadan.
During the month of Ramadan, teachers taught the
children about the importance of Ramadan.
Our tamariki (children) -
 learnt the Dua’a of break fasting, and doing
good deeds, such as baking cookies to sell at Eid
carnival to raise money for the poor.
 recognised and appreciated their own ability to
learn and memorise the four surahs from
Quran, and
 making sense of the world when they learnt
about the phases of the moon.
Activities during this term
 Children roleplay the Suhoor and iftar
 Children made telescopes and lanterns
 Children baked bread and cookies
Term Three
Hajj occurs during term 3 so teachers are making
Hajj. There will be a role play for children to under-
stand what Hajj is. Beside Hajj we will celebrate Eid
Al-Adha.
Healthy Heart Award
On 12thJune, Bex from Heart Foundation, presented
An-Nur our new Healthy Heart award at Harakeke
level which is gold level. As teachers, we would con-
tinue to encourage parents to provide healthy food in
children’s lunch boxes everyday, and plan physical ac-
tivities in our programme for children.
Comings and goings
Welcome to Mataatua and Waikawa who recently
joined us in the over 2 room in July. We are excited
to have each child join us and look forward to being
part of their learning journey in the months and years
ahead
Farewell
We have recently said farewell to Ayaan who left us
for Ilam School. We wish Ayaan and his family very
best wishes for the future.

Lost and found property
Over the months, the lost and found box has been
filling up. We would like to remind parents to name all
children’s items as it will make it easy to identify any
lost property and return to the rightful owner.
Coming Events
Parents’ Education Evening Friday 27 July 2018 from
7-9pm at Riccarton Library. Topic: Parents playing
with young children to strengthen their relationship.
