3.3.4.3 Inserting CD

Refer to Section 3.3.1.4.

3.3.4.4 Setting CD-ROM Booting

After the CD is inserted, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to reboot the system. During the system
booting process, press <F11> to enter the Boot Menu screen and set the CD-ROM
booting.

3.4 RHEL Installation

It is recommended to install the operating system in an automatic mode, to avoid potential
errors during a manual installation procedure.

If the automatic installation CD is inserted, the system boots from the CD-ROM, and
completes the OS installation automatically. The whole process takes about 20 to 40
minutes, which depends on the hardware configuration.

After the automatic installation procedure is completed, the CD-ROM is ejected

automatically. The server reboots and enters the state of system login, see Figure 3-16.

above software and data are supposed to be installed or saved in the lower level of
/netmax.

problem, and then go to the next step.

4.4.3 Verifying SSH Remote Login

When the network is normal, log in to the RHEL server remotely from a PC by using the
SSH tool (for example, putty) to verify the remote login is normal.

Only when the remote SSH connection succeeds, you can go to the next step.

4.4.3.4 Remote SSH Connection Failure

The remote SSH connection is enabled by default for a RHEL server. The network
problem causes the most remote SSH connection failure. Check the network that
connects the server and PC, and contact the lab administrator to solve the problem.

Note: Only when the remote SSH connection succeeds, you can install the
NexMAX/NDS.

4.6 Set Auto Mount /netmax

After /netmax path is created, you still need to set auto mount /netmax path when starting
up the system. In the scenario with disk array, after auto mounting is configured, you
need to guarantee the disk array is corrected to the server normally. Otherwise error
information will prompt up to stop the further login during the system starting up.

There is different method for different equipment to set auto mounting.

Note: /netmax is the installation directory of the Sybase. It is strongly recommended to

assign a directory of the disk with the maximum capacity to install the Sybase. Generally
speaking, this directory is /netmax in the scenario with a disk array, while it is /home in the
scenario without a disk array.

4.7.3 Making Configuration Take Effect

4.7.4 Verifying Installation

Switch off the terminal which the installation commands are executed on. Log in to a new
command line terminal as the root user, and execute the following command in blue to
check whether the environment variables have values.

Note: If the command line output is not blank, the Sybase is installed successfully.

4.8 Sybase Authorization

The Sybase IQ can be used in a long term after being authorized. Otherwise there is only
one-month probation period. Otherwise there is only one-month probation period. Sybase
IQ should be reinstalled for further use if the probation period is expired.
