Deck Plate Check at Upper Deck


There are 1 type of thickness of plate that would be checked .The table below, show location and dimension of most critical cases.

Introduction The purpose of this document is to design the deck plate for both of load condition as described below.
Based on reference Structural Design Basis, the deck plates shall be based on the following conditions :
1. Uniform 100% Open Area Live Load (OALL) applied over the entire plate with all edges fixed.
2. Concentrated load of 5kN on main deck over 100mm square area with all edges fixed.
3. Roark's formulas is used to calculate stresses.

Material Properties :
Plate Material = Type 1 material (API RP2A-WSD - 8.1.2)
Density =  = 7.85 tonnes/m3
Elasticity Modulus = E = 210000 N/mm2
Yield Stress 1 = Fy = 235 N/mm2
Allow. Bending Stress 1 = Fb = 0.75 x Fy = 176.25 N/mm2

Plate Thickness 1 = t = 8 mm
Allowable Deflection 1 = d1 = 8 mm
