LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. By the end of the lesson students be able to
a. Punctuate written work with moderate accuracy by
identifying at least 4/8 abbreviations.
b. Understand specific details an information in longer
texts on an increased range of familiar topics by
matching at least 3/6 items to make a plan and
selecting at least 5 useful expressions to invite a cousin
to a special event.

ELEMENTS
ACTIVITIES: PRE LESSON 1. Pupils find partners who are holding correct
abbreviations/meanings to match with.
2. Pupils show the answers to class.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT Activity 1(Pair-work)
1. Pupils read instruction for Activity A.
2. Pupils rewrite the sentences using correct abbreviation
(hand-out 1)
3. Pupils check answers with partners and then as a whole
class.

Activity 2(Group-work)
1. Pupils read the instructions for Activity B and understand
the task.
2. Pupils underline 3 key phrases.
3. Pupils answer the questions in complete sentences and
check answers as a class.

Activity 3
1. Pupils read the example email in Part C.
2. Volunteered pupils will go to the front and underline the
abbreviations.
3. Pupils that give correct answers are rewarded by teacher.
Activity 4 (Individual work)
1. In activity D, pupils read the email again and tick the things
included in the email.
2. Pupils checks answers with the teacher as a class.

Activity 5(Group-work)
1. Pupils match the items from the strips given in envelopes
to make plan for writing an email.
2. The first group which finish the task will be rewarded.
POST LESSON 1. Pupils write 5 useful expressions which they have learned
to invite friends for a special event (surprise party, guests,
celebrate, plan etc.)
