III. EVALUATION REPORT

The aforementioned seminar was conducted during the In-Service Training for
Secondary School Teachers in the District of Sagbayan as one of the sessions due to its timely
relevance to the teaching profession. This was after I pitched in the idea during the planning
session while we were still crafting the training design of the 5-day INSET. It was fortunate
that the training manager together with the committee members (to which I am also a
member of) gave out a nod for the inclusion of the Computer Ethics for Teachers seminar.
Per the crafted training design, the Computer Ethics for Teachers seminar was
originally planned out to be conducted on the third day, however, since the prior sessions
were completed ahead of time, my seminar was pushed earlier and it took place around 3:30
in the afternoon of the second day (of INSET) and from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning of the
third day (of INSET).
The Day 1 activities started with the showing of my Ethics Advocacy project (Digital
Piracy) to arouse the participants’ interest letting them be curious in the process of what is
in store for them. After the video was presented, participants were asked if they have had a
similar scenario in the past and in unison responded yes. In fact, one of the participants
shared that he didn’t know that performing such is illegal. The Day 1 activities covered the
World Café Tour activity (carried out to determine the current practices of the teachers in the
utilization of existing digital media when preparing their lessons, asking their students for
projects, and when their professional needs require). This was done to further determine
whether their current practices were in consonance with laws and social norms. Afterwhich,
the reporting of the summarized responses of the participants followed.
After the World Café Tour activity, the seminar/lecture followed with me delivering
the contents using PowerPoint presentations on topics such Computer Ethics (covering
Page 15 of 16
IS201 IT Ethics Project
Definition of Ethics, Definition of Computer Ethics, and Common Ethical Issues), Major Areas
Under the Umbrella of the Computer Ethics (covering Copyright and Intellectual Property, 10
Netiquette Rules, and Day to Day Ethics) and Computer Ethics for Teachers (covering Code
of Ethics for Teachers and Copyright Laws on Educational Pursuit). During the delivery of the
contents, the participants were observed to have been so interested as they were so
participative during the content delivery, open forum and the QA.
During Day 2, a recap which was conducted through a game was done to check if the
participants still have the grasp of the concepts from the previous meeting. After everyone
was settled, the Day 2 activities followed. Day 2 activities was all about action planning and
the same grouping from the previous day was utilized. Each of the group was given a situation
and were asked to create an action plan utilizing the concepts they’ve learned during the
seminar duration. The reporting of the output then followed where after a group was done
reporting, an open forum followed- crowdsourcing for ideas and inputs if the action plan
items the group has presented, is acceptable or not and if not, suggested with modifications.
After all groups were done reporting, the participants were asked of takeaway questions such
as on how will they be able to implement successfully their action plans and as to what will
they stop, start and continue doing. Afterwhich, the run-through on the University of the
Philippines Open University program offerings for teachers were presented to give them the
idea that UPOU exists to cater their professional needs.
After the conduct of the seminar, an online evaluation (using a likert-scale of 1-
Strongly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-Agree, 4-Strongly Agree) for sessions and facilitators (using
Google Forms) was ran and after the responses were collated, Table 1 shows the over-all
result.

3.63 Strongly Agree

Results showed that the participants agreed that the session topic was related to their
profession and that whatever they’ve learned will help them on their work as teachers (as
what one of the survey comments stated). The conduct of the seminar turned out to be a
fruitful and a learning one and with the results above, I can say to myself that I have done
what needs to be done.
