NARRATIVE REPORT

PDRRMO BASIC LIFE SUPPORT AND DRRM TRAINING SEMINAR

Experience is the best teacher, there’s nothing better than learning and applying
knowledge first-hand. On this note, having the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Office of Nueva Ecija teaching us, the Rescue 3121, and various focal persons of Five different
Barangays, truly took our DRRM skills on another level.

PDRRMO-NE Executive Officer Michael DC. Calma, MPA.

together with PDRRM-NE Training and Research Head Mark Jayson
Dela Cruz, RN., prepared a four-day training seminar which centers
on Disaster Preparedness and Fire (Day 1), First Aid and Basic Life
Support (Day 2 and 3) and a Simulation Exercise for an Earthquake
TRAIN HARD. PDRRMO personnel train
(Day 4), October 26,27, 30 and November 7. participants in carrying unconscious victim.

On the first day, each trainee learned how to properly use a fire extinguisher and the
proper procedure during fire and in other disasters. The following two days saw every single
participant handle bandages, conduct Rescue breathing and CPR, carry wounded and use spine
board.
Everything from these three days were meant to prepare
every trainee for the upcoming earthquake simulation on the
last day that will cover the three-storey building of the Grade 8
students. Teams were designated for it namely:
communication, fire safety, rescue, medical, and building
inspection.
SIR! SIR! ARE YOU OKAY!? Rescuers are doing The simulation commenced at 11:00 a.m. with the
physical check on the victim as they prep for
extraction. evacuation plan accomplished easily. To add more realistic
situations, 4 would-be
wounded students were scattered throughout the building
for the rescue and medical team to tend to. An ambulance
was also present and used by the rescue team to enter school
premises.
PDRRMO personnel just let the teams do their roles
while giving guidance if only needed be.
The end of the simulation ended right before the COMING THROUGH. A ‘wounded’ student carried to
dismissal of classes and certificates were given at 1:00 in the an ambulance and be given extensive aid at a
hospital
afternoon.
