1. Hold pre-job meeting  None  Supervisors must hold this meeting to inform all
parties involved in and around the job. JSA must be
read at the meeting.

2. Lift generator with the  Load falling  All lifting gear must be rated for 1.5 times the
crane weight of the generator (the generator weighs 5 tons,
therefore all lifting gear must be 7.5 tons certified)

3. Use chain hoist to handle  Pinch points  Same as above. Ensure that workers are clear of
the generator through the  Falling / swinging load positions that have potential danger from swinging
machinery deck  Muscle and back strain loads. Do not lift the load any higher than necessary.
Use rope and at least two men to position the chain
hoists in place.

4. Once inside the engine  Same as above plus fall  Use fall protection when installing chain hoists on
room, move the generator into hazard anchor points where worker need to go up above 6

7. Connect electrical junction  Electric shock  Ensure that the generator breaker is locked out
box and wires and the fuses pulled. Also make sure that the heat
breaker is still locked out.
