The Nahdhat Shabab Project is funded by the U.S.
Department of State and administered by AMIDEAST. The
Nahdhat Shabab Project trains youth between the ages of
18 and 30 years old in vocational, professional and
employability skills. The project trainees will gain realworld experience in
improving their communities and
stimulating critical economic recovery in Yemen.
The Nahdhat Shabab Project is now receiving applications
for vocational and employability training which will begin
January 2019. The eleven eligible fields for vocational
training are listed in the application, but priority for this
recruitment will be given to these 3 areas: hydraulics,
plumbing, and renewable energy (solar installation).
Applications will be accepted from applicants residing in
Sana�a (Amanat Al Asimah). Following submission of a
completed application by the deadline, applicants will be
screened for eligible criteria, which includes completing
all questions. Characteristics of successful applicants are
listed on the last pages of the application form. Shortlisted candidates will be
invited to an interview with
members of the Community Advisory Board. Scholarships
will be announced in Summer 2018 and applicants will be
expected to bring their supporting documents with them.
Deadline for applying is Wednesday 3 PM, December 12,
2018. Late applications are not accepted. Applications
must be delivered to AMIDEAST Sana�a Offices. For

Nahdhat Shabab Project Eligibility Requirements
* Between 18 and 30 years of age.
* Fully available for the program and not currently studying or
working;
* Submitted a completed application (with all questions answered as
accurately as possible) and supporting documents, which include a
valid Yemeni photo ID (either Yemeni national ID or passport), a copy
of your most recent graduation certificate, and a recommendation
letter from aqel al-hara or a community service/based organization
(CBO).
* Living in the cities and towns targeted by the project.
* Interested in training and practical skills for a job or business.
* Able to attend all training activities and understands that not
attending one session without providing an approved excuse may lead
to termination from the program.
* Attend all meetings with AMIDEAST staff.
* Ready for voluntary work in a youth center.
* Flexible and able to work with other youth.
* A talented person who has the desire and willingness to submit
applications for implementing projects/activities in their
neighborhoods at youth centers.
* Able to identify the positive aspects of his/her society and has the
ability to translate those positive aspects to suggest appropriate ways
to expand those aspects to other neighborhoods.
Practical Ways to be a Member in the Project
* First you should complete an application and submit it by the
deadline.
* The Nahdhat Shabab Project will review the above eligibility
requirements and select the applicants for an interview.
* Interviews will be held with the Community Advocacy Board
Members (CAB).
* The best interviewees will be invited to join a vocational training
program or vocational refresher course in the Nahdhat Shabab
Project.
* Successful trainees in the first phase will be invited for professional
skills training.
Trainee Responsibilities include:
* Attending all training. Attendance is the key to success.
* Attending all weekly and monthly meetings.
* Answering phone calls from AMIDEAST.
* Being punctual.
* Motivating and encouraging neighbors to join in grant activities at
youth centers for the Nahdhat Shabab Project.
* Applying for the Nahdhat Shabab Project grant activities, which are
to be held in their neighborhoods at youth centers.
