Reading/Language Arts
In Language Arts our learning targets this week have included:
*Spelling focus: vowel short “e”
*consonant blends: tr, st, sl, fl, cl, gr, etc.
*Sight word focus
*blending sounds, rhyming words
*recognizing interrogative sentences! Interrogative sentences ask a
question.
*main idea & details – This is hard for students! Main idea & details are
found in non-fiction literary text and non-fiction text. Stating the MAIN idea
the author is talking about or why they wrote the piece is very difficult for
students.
*Story Structure – including setting, characters, beginning, middle, end,
problem, solution. We made a story map this week.
What else: This week in writing we wrote a constructed response. This is
an answer to a question using text to support ones response. This was a
two day process and I completely modeled the process and we did it
together! We will continue to do this throughout the year and they will do
more on their own each time!
We also started a personal narrative that we will be taking about 6 class
days to write!
Science Math
We have completed our This week we continued to work
