Rainbow Fleet accepting applications
OKLAHOMA CITY – nutrition they need by
Rainbow Fleet Child Care
Resource and Referral is
participating in the Child
and Adult Care Food Pro-
gram (CACFP).
Licensed childcare pro-
viders who serve nutritious
meals and snacks may be
eligible for federal reim-
bursement.
The U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s (USDA) Child
and Adult Care Food Pro-
gram is accepting Oklaho-
ma enrollments, according
to Carrie Williams, Rainbow
Fleet executive director.
Rainbow Fleet is a spon-
sor organization through
the Oklahoma Depart-
ment of Education, the fed-
eral program’s Oklahoma
administrator.

child nutrition program
helps children receive the

reimbursing child care pro-
viders for serving meals and
snacks that meet federal
requirements.
Reimbursement rates
range from $2.48 for a
lunch/dinner to $.20 for
a snack. Caregivers are
required to record menus,
enrollment and attendance.
A provider can claim up to
three meals per child per
day.
“Every family childcare
facility that is licensed by
the Department of Human
Services is eligible for this
free nutrition program,”
said Williams. “Our staff at
Rainbow Fleet will be avail-
able to help child care pro-
viders fill out their applica-
tions. Once an application
is accepted we’ll be able to
work on compliance issues
that range from creating
a balanced menu to food
sanitation and preparation
with the provider.”
