II. The meeting started at 10; 30am in the staffroom and was preceded by the
vice principal in charge of English, Mrs. Nguelle Abada. After having presented
the agenda of the day, the first item that was looked into was the assiduity of
teachers and the work covered for the sequence.

Hours to be covered Work programmed

levels Hrs to Hrs % For the covered %
cover covered sequence
6e 180 132 73.33 01 0.75 75
5e 144 104 72.22 03 02.25 75.15
4e 108 84 78 02 01.75 88

1ere 150 122 81.33 02 01.8 90
tle 84 60 71.42 02 02 100
III. From the above able, we can see that the total number of hours
programmed o be taught a all levels were no completed. This therefore is the
reason for the incomplete work covered a he various levels. It is only at the
level of tle that we have registered 100% of work covered. This however is
because; particular items were chosen to be taught from the 2 units to be
covered.

VI. PERFORMANCES OF THE LEARNERS AT ALL LEVELS.

COMMENTARIES

From the above table, we can see that, students attend classes regularly
though a few of them are always outside. The results don’t reflect the
percentage of assiduity of both the learners and the teachers. The results at the
6e level has dropped as well as ha of the 1ere and terminal. He level of 5e has
the worst result with 29.21%.
V. DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED

There were so many challenges faced in the course of the 4th sequence
which partly is the reason for the poor performance of the learners.

The first difficulty raised is the fact that, the new evaluation system
highly interrupts the teaching and learning process; learners are evaluated
even before a sequence begins or gets to the third week. This consequently
affects performances because the system of sequences is no respected

There is equally he aspect of marking which is thought to be overweighing

the teachers since they spend too much time marking papers.

There is also the aspect of indiscipline in the part of the learners. In most
cases, the learners even hide the roll call register so it makes it difficult to have
them punished.

Learners are equally not interested in the lesson as we have in many

situations caught them doing other subjects during the English lesson. Most of
them do not even have the required text books to use during lessons. Some
vehemently refuse to write the test.

All the above mentioned crimes can be said to be partly responsible for the
low performances of the students in spite of the fact that they attend classes
and teachers also each taught all their hours are not covered.

VI. SUGGESTIONS MADE

A few suggestions were made to help us ameliorate the working

conditions and performances of the learners.

The discipline masters are called to do take their work seriously and help
re all acts of indiscipline and other vices that may hinder the smooth
functioning of the school
The system of evaluation has to be restudied to improve on the objective
of the students in school for the better performance of the studies

Teachers should also ameliorate heir teaching methods with the aim of
provoking the students’ interest in their subjects. This should be coupled with
assignments to better evaluate for he students understanding.

Parents should be informed of the children’s needs and their progress so

as to increase parent teacher student and administration dialogue.

VII.OTHER MATTERS DISCUSSED

For other matters discussed, teachers are reminded to check the notice
board so as to know when they are to invigilate. Some teachers were assigned
to set exams for the 5th sequence. Teachers were equally reminded to mark
promptly, do and hand their statistics on time for onward transmission to the
administration the meeting ended a 12; 30 pm
