INFORMATION SYSTEMS STRATEGIC PLAN (ISSP) FOR
ROYCE RACING ENTERPRISES

I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

II. INTRODUCTION

A. BRIEF HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Royce Racing Enterprises – Janiuay Branch is a sole proprietorship of motor

parts and accessories owned and managed by Mrs. Julie Madera. It was established on

February 13, 2011 and currently located at Aquino Nobleza East, Janiuay, Iloilo. In the

humble beginnings of the business, the structure of the establishment was just made of light

materials or in what the owner has described as “kamalig”. But due to the increasing

demand and sales, it transferred into a new establishment that has better infrastructure and

facilities.

The idea of having this type of business was initiated by the Mr. Ripon Sarker,

husband of Mrs. Madera’s sister-in-law. He was the founder of Royce Racing Enterprises.

And with the goal of helping his other family members and relatives, it has extended into

different branches and became a successful family business. Here in Iloilo, they have two

branches; one in Janiuay owned by Mrs. Julie Madera and the other one in Pototan, owned

by Arce Madera. The main branch is located at Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal.

Currently, their goal is to increase sales and open another branch for their

other siblings. Its vision is to offer quality products within people’s reach in the province of

Iloilo. Its mission is to provide people in Janiuay and its neighboring towns budget-friendly

and quality motor parts and accessories.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS STRATEGIC PLAN (ISSP) FOR
ROYCE RACING ENTERPRISES

Royce Enterprises is a flat organization with its Owner as the Manager. It has three

employees which are the partsman, cashier, and coder. The manager oversees the work of

the employees and has direct authority over them. The employees can also directly

communicate their concerns with the manager, considering it is a flat organization.

Figure 1. The organizational chart of Royce Racing Enterprises

The business has only 3 employees. But since it is a flat organization, there is no specific

assignment for each personnel. They serve as a cashier, coder or partsman; whichever is

more convenient.

The manager is responsible for the purchasing activities and deliveries. She also

attends to the customer and serves as cashier. She is also responsible in manual

bookkeeping and recording transactions and updating their inventory record in Excel

spreadsheet, which will serve as bases for the preparation of yearly financial statements.

The cashier is responsible at cash register and collects payments from the customers.

She is also responsible for attending customers.

The Coder checks the capital and suggested retail price which is used to set prices for the

products. He is also responsible for recording the quantity of products in the inventory.

The partsman is assigned for locating products during sale. Once the order was made at

the counter, the partsman will find the requested product and deliver it to the counter. He is

also responsible for checking availability of products.

All employees in the said organization are relatives of the owner. Their daily wage

depends on seniority. Those who have longer years of service receive higher pay. Their

benefits include SSS, accidental insurance and free food. They work for 8 hours daily and

receive 4-day day-off per month.

C. BUSINESS SEGMENTS AND FUNCTIONAL UNITS

Royce Racing Enterprises is a flat organization wherein all personnel are directly

supervised by the manager/owner. In a flat organization, personnel have shared workload;

in this way they can quickly respond to their customer needs and it can motivate employees

since they perform different duties that make their work more productive.

The organization’s major functional divisions are the counter and storage. A

counter is a part of the organization where business transaction occurs or it is the point of

sale. It is where the cashier accepts payments and customers can inquire and make orders.

The storage is where their inventories are displayed and stored. The partsman is in-charge in

the storage area. During sales, when customers make orders, the partsman is the one to

locate products in the storage and bring them to the counter.

D. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES OFFERED

The business’ major suppliers are from Manila, Iloilo City, and Davao City. They

accept wholesale and retail of motor parts and accessories, such as wheels, tires and tubes.

Their operations are not limited to direct sales. They also accept orders through phone calls.

There are available technicians in their business but are not employed by the management.

These technicians can avail free use of tools, electricity and water in their repair work, given

that the accessories and motor parts that will be used are bought from Royce. The business

operates 7 days a week, including holidays.
