Learning Outcomes- students will so they can action words with what they are doing
List two or three learning outcomes that you want the students to achieve as a result of participating in
the virtual field trip and its related lesson. (be specific & descriptive)

Students will go on a virtual field trip to the Lisbon Zoo and will learn about and explore the
animal species that they encounter.

Students will use deductive reasoning skills to help them problem solve so they can figure out
which animal stole the princess’ crown.

Developmental Activities
List 2 or 3 developmental activities (related to your learning outcomes) that you have found or will
develop and then deliver to your class prior to the virtual field trip itself that will focus the students on the
skills necessary to be successful during the virtual field trip and its related lesson. (be specific &
descriptive)

1. In small groups students will (using a list of predetermined animals provided) select two to
three animals that they believe they will encounter at the Zoo.
2. As a class we will discuss the animals the groups have selected, and we will create a list of what
we believe are the environments that the animals live in, what they eat, and other important
characteristics of the animals.
3. As a class we will discuss what type of animal we believe would have wanted to steal the
princess’ crown and why.

Focus Activities
List 2 or 3 focus activities (related to your learning outcomes) that you have found or will develop and
then deliver to your class during the virtual field trip itself that will focus the students on the skills
necessary to be successful during the virtual field trip and its related lesson. (be specific & descriptive)

1. The students will use their provided photo list of animals that they might see while on the
Virtual Field Trip. Throughout the field trip they are to circle any of the animals on the sheet
that they see at the zoo.
2. With a map of the Lisbon Zoo provided to student they will, to the best of their ability, map out
the route taken throughout the field trip that led us to the missing crown.
Evaluation Activities
List 2 or 3 evaluation activities (related to your learning outcomes) that you have found or will develop
and then deliver to your class after the virtual field trip itself that will focus the students on the skills
necessary to be successful during the virtual field trip and its related lesson. (be specific & descriptive)

1. As a class we will create graphic organizers of the animals that were seen at the zoo,
referencing their photo list, and we will discuss those animals’ habitats and other facts learned
throughout the Field Trip. We will compare these to our original list made and discuss what
we got correct and what we got wrong and discuss why/ how we were wrong.
2. As a class we will use a large map of the Zoo and together map out the route of the crown.
While doing so we will discuss the evidence provided throughout the field trip that lead us to
who stole the crown.

Instructional Materials
List the materials needed to conduct this virtual field trip and activities. Be specific and complete so as to
prepare another teacher to be able to use your virtual field trip lesson with their class. (be specific &
descriptive)
1. The first link below will help create the photo list, similar to the second link provided, of specific
species to provide the students with for them to make their initial selections.
