INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS – CENTREFLUSH

DURABILITY: INSTALLING
Dux cisterns comply with the NZBC durability requirements of 5 years, if installed and maintained Take the lid off the cistern leaving the protective film intact, it is preferable to leave this intact until any paint work is complete. Remove the

GENERAL: use of “Wallmates” which are readily available from hardware stores.
Most efficient flushing is obtained with the cistern mounted as high as possible with the
flushpipe as supplied. If it is desirable to reduce the height, cut the flushpipe to suit, however it is Now install the ballcock (Please turn to back page for ballcock installation guidelines). Do not use sealing compound
suggested that for good flushing the flushpipe should be at least 300mm in length.
Consideration should be given to the type of toilet seat which will be used with the cistern in Turn on the water and adjust the water level until the water reaches the waterline mark on the internal back wall of the cistern.
determining the height at which it is to be mounted. It is important to ensure that the seat will Check the operation of the full and half flush modes.
remain upright when lifted. This is a function of the model of seat and the distance the pan is set If there is a problem with the full flush operation, check to see if there is any obstruction in the inlet of the pan.
from the rear wall. Least difficulty in this regard is experienced by the installation of the Dux
Twinline or Classic seats in which the hinging point is forward of the bolting down holes in the
pan. If either the Dux Royal or Regent seat is to be used fit the seat onto the pan first and then
position the pan so that the seat will stay upright when lifted. With the Dux Regent and Royal
seats and the full length flushpipe this condition can usually be satisfied with most pans if the
front edge of the pan is at 710mm from the back wall. Typical Layout for Dux Centreflush

DUALFLUSH:
To achieve satisfactory operation it is important to fit the 40mm flushpipe supplied.

INCREASING/DECREASING FLUSH VOLUME:

This cistern as supplied is designed for a 6 litre full flush and 3 litre half flush when used with a
6-litre pan that complies with AS1172.1:1993. Although it will function satisfactorily with most
modern pans. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the flushing volume dependant on the
pan used, the volume can be increased or decreased by easily adjusting the valve adjustments
shown in the picture to the right.
The table below shows the approximate flushing volumes per valve setting. Full Flush Adjustment
(Setting 3 for 6 litre full flush)
Volume
Half Flush Adjustment
Full Flush Setting Volume (Litres) Half Flush Setting (Litres)
(Setting 8 for 3 litre half flush)
3 6.0 12 2.4
2 6.4 8 3.2
1.5 7.5 6 3.4
1 8.0 2 4.5

SETTING OUT:

1. Mark a centreline on the wall on which the cistern is to be mounted in line with the centreline of the pan outlet squared off from
the wall.
2. Position the cistern central with the line using the arrow on the crossbrace of the cistern, at the previously determined height.
Make sure that the top edge of the cistern is level and pencil a line along the top edge of the cistern.
3. If an external overflow is required drill an overflow hole of 22mm diameter on a centre line 66mm below the top edge of the
cistern and between 288mm and 383mm from the centreline on the side opposite to the water supply inlet.
4. Position the water inlet either on the horizontal line 66mm below the top edge of the cistern at no less than 350mm from the
centreline or if a vertical supply tube with a bend is preferred a Dux Qickee supply kit plus a NFE23FWH bend is available as a
separate kit. Part No. NIV22500FWH. In this case position the inlet at 300mm from the centreline and at 600mm to 400mm from
the top edge of the cistern.
BALLCOCK INSTALLATION (INLET VALVE)

The ballcock can be installed in a left or right hand configuration as shown below

LEFT HAND SIDE ENTRY RIGHT HAND SIDE ENTRY

IMPORTANT!

PLEASE USE THE BALLCOCK ARM BENDING TEMPLATE TO ENSURE CORRECT INSTALLATION.

AFTER INSTALLATION TEST THE OUTLET VALVE OPERATION AND ENSURE THE BALLCOCK ARM DOES NOT INTERFERE
WITH THE OUTLET VALVE
