Fun v Funny

FUN
Noun – A source of enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure (placer / diversión).

Adjective – amusing or enjoyable (divertido).

Examples:

You use "fun" when you are describing something you did or will do. Fun is something
entertaining that may not evoke laughter.

1. Swimming is fun.

2. Going to the movies sounds fun.

3. “We had fun” means “we enjoyed ourselves”.

FUNNY
Adjective – Causing amusement or laughter (gracioso)

Adjective – Strange, rare, unusual (raro / curioso)

Examples:

You use "funny" when you find something amusing or it can be used to describe
something unusual. Funny is something either humorous or peculiar

1. I find that joke funny. (Humourous)

2. Who is that guy? He looks a bit funny. (Strange)

Remember the expression:


“Funny ‘ha ha’ or funny peculiar?”

Did it make you laugh or was it strange?


If not, use ‘fun’.
