Course Code : ECEG-4151
Target Group : VII (Communication Stream)
Instructor Name : KATTASWAMY MERGU

Course Objectives:
 Understand and quantify the effects of accelerated charges in producing time-varying
electromagnetic waves.
 Be able to derive- from Maxwell’s equations- the governing equations for EM wave propagation,
RF transmission lines, rectangular waveguides and resonant cavities.
 Have gained insight into the applications of RF transmission lines, the use of Smith Chart and
matching techniques.

Course Description:
 Revision of Vectors and Maxwell's Equations
 To study the Electromagnetic Wave Propagation and its characteristics
 To study about Transmission Lines and its properties, primary and secondary constants
 To study about the waveguides and how the waves propagating in the waveguides

Students Role:
 Students should maintain minimum 80% attendance in the given course and respected laboratory.
 Active participation inside and outside the classroom.
 Submission of the assignments and group works before the deadline.
 Be competent in doing their exercises, quiz and exam.
