News Staff Corner by Lou Najamy:
Another year winding down, I can’t understand how time speeds up as I get older!!! It seems just a few weeks ago I was in
shorts mowing the lawn and two weeks ago I was shoveling over 9 inches of wet heavy snow. In my mind I think of all of this
as just a few days ago. Hope everyone had a peaceful and Happy Thanksgiving, I know my family and I had a delightful one
and it all started with the Thanksgiving Eve Buffet at the club. It was great to share some time, drink, and food with fellow
members of the Club and Ladies Auxiliary. Now, just one look at the calendar and here comes Christmas on a high speed rail!
Now for some business, I’m a bit late with the billing for 2019 LAC Newsletter Ads, my apologies. You will be receiving them
shortly. Remember these ads pay for this newsletter with little or no help from the Club’s treasury. Please do the best you can to
return your payment and/or your cancellation or changes as quickly as possible.
We are still waiting for some reader input on family news, events, travel or anything you would like to share with your fellow
members. Feel free to send in suggestions that would make your newsletter better meet your needs.
Finally, to all our members of both the “Club” and “Auxiliary” may you have a Merry and Joyous Christmas as well as a
Happy and Healthy New Year. May God bless our Club.
Thoughts to Live By:
“Happiness is a sort of atmosphere you sometimes can live in when you’re lucky. Joy is a light that fills you with hope and faith
and love.” Adel Rogers St. Johns, American journalist (1894-1988).
“What intellectual snobs we have become! Virtue is now in the number of degrees you have – not in the kind of person you are
or what you can accomplish in real-life situations.” Eda J. LeShan, American educator (1922-2002).
A Little Humor:
“Pioneers are seldom from nobility. There were no Dukes on the Mayflower.” Mack Sennet, Canadian born American movie
producer (18880-1960).
“The public! The public! How many fools does it take to make up the public? Nicolas Chamfort, French writer (1740-1794).).
Members News:
Remember the last Sunday in January is the Club’s Annual meeting. A few things to remember; annual dues of $225 are due, a
table with our treasurer and asst. treasurer will be waiting for you prior to the meeting to expedite your payment. Also elections
for club officers will be held, if you are interested in serving in any of the officer positions please see any Director or Current
Officer as soon as possible.
Point of Clarification on Board of Directors according to By-Laws – Article 4, Section 2 – All Directors shall be appointed
annually and may not serve more than four consecutive years unless approved by the President. Section 3 – All Directors shall
be appointed annually in the following manner: One (1) Director by the Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and Four (4) by
the President.
Over the last several years a slate of nominees has been presented to the membership for a vote which included a list of
Directors. To be in compliance with our by-laws, Directors will now be appointed in the above manner (as stated in Article 4
Section 3 of our by-laws).
I hope this clarifies the process of establishing your Board of Directors. If you are interested in serving on the Club’s Board of
Directors, please see any of the current officers or Directors.
Welcome and congratulations: Please join us in welcoming two new members, Alex Gozma – An Industrial Businessman &
Chris Caram a Medical Surgical Equipment salesman. They were sworn in on November 13 and 27 respectively.
A big thank you to Jimmy Glynn III and Vin DiGilio and their crew for running a very enjoyable and successful Monday
Night Football event. Nothing but good things were said about the dinners (mostly prepared at the club), as well as the way the
event was run. Thanks to all who participated and made it worthwhile. Great Job!!!
