Analysis:

This interview was full of new oppurtunities for me. It was my first that involved a

significant drive and my first meeting over a meal. I woke up on Saturday read to make the trek

to downtown, got dressed and felt prepared. Thing began to go wrong however, when I realized

that I didn’t have a TollTag on my car. Apparently, that was a sign of things to come as a portion

of my interview questions seemed to be missing and the parking lot at the restaurant we were

meeting at was full. Luckily, I wasn’t the only one with a slightly hectic start to the morning and

ultimatly, I found that this interview went incredibly well even without scripted questions. Ms.

Barringer and I sat down in a quiter section of the restaurant, enjoyed our food and began talking

about marketing, life and so much more.

The interview began with Ms. Barringer describing her work at Social Revolt Agency

and what she does as an account executive. She explained that she is responsible for a handful of

clients that she helps to market. Much of what she does is focused on the digital world and social

media. During this time, she spoke about the importance of maintaining positive relationships
with clinets and frequently checking that you are in agreement with their goals and visions. I

found it interesting to see the perspective of someone working on the agency side of things as I

had already spoken with professionals in the corperate world. Ms. Barringer addressed that she

did not see an MBA as a requirment of a successful career and instead focused on networking

and hard work.

The next part of her work that she described was her role running the internship program

at Social Revolt. She stated that she was incredibly passionate about this as Social Revolt did not

have a formal intership process when she began there. This aspect of her work allows her to help

build up others and give them opurtunities that benefit them. In this role, she is responsible for

recruiting interns, interviewing canidates, placing interns and programing activities. She says that

it has also allowed her to form important connections with new members of the team and built up

her own leadership skills.

It was our next topic of discussion that deeply impacted me. I asked Ms. Barringer about

her peronal project Femme Fatal and this is when our conversation turned. Femme Fatal is a

platform that inspires women to push their boundaries and become their best physical, mental

and spiritual selves. It was evident to me, and it was directly stated by Ms. Barringer, that this

project is where her passion lies. She said that she enjoys her work and is good at it, but feels

called to continue to push herself to do big things that will impact the world. This is why she is

drawn to inspiring others to live out their full potential.

Ms. Barringer did not shy away from asking me questions as well. At the end of the

meeting, I walked away inspired and challenged. Truthfully, I know the kind of impact that I

intend to make on the world but not exactly how I should go about doing it. My interview with

Ms. Barringer helped me to remember to continually reprioritized my life and reevaluate what
matters to me and why I care about it. She says that this is what helped to inspire her and led her

to find her dream in Femme Fatal.

As I reflect on this interview, I know that I gained a significant amount of knowledge

about my topic as well as about my self. I am thankful for the oppurtunity to understand what a

marketer does when working for an agency and now feel like I have a more balanced perspective

of the marketing profession as a whole. I also am thankful for the personal challenge that Ms.

Barringer issused me. This year in ISM, it is my goal to create something that doesn’t simply

benefit my learning or my mentor, but helps me to discover my power to benefit others and

shape the world. This interviewed helped give me the courage to pursue my passions even

though the road will be long and hard.
