Water Pump:

Water pumps are used not only to flush-out the cuttings from hole but also lubricate, and cools the
drilling bit. The flow rate of water and the pressure developed from the pump are the important
parameters in the selection of pump. High pressure is required for core drilling, thus reciprocating
triplex piston pumps are used.

Drill Bit:

Drill bit are the tools to cut the rock. The performance of bits depends upon the rock type, spindle
speed, cutting pressure, feeding pressure, flushing rate and skill of driller etc. The price and quality of bit
depends upon percentage of diamond impregnated over the binding materials, quality of diamond,
crown height and type of water ways.

There are various size standard of drilling bits in the market, the most commonly used standard are AQ,
BQ, NQ, HQ, PQ.

Drilling Pipes:

Drilling pipes are hollow thin-walled cylindrical pipes. It is available in a variety of size, strength and wall
thickness. Generally, 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m and 3m are used. Its strength and thickness depends upon the
drilling torque required to transfer from rig to bits via core barrel and reaming shell down the earth
crust.

Casing pipes:

Casing pipe is similar to drill pipe. They are fitted with casing shoes. They are generally used to provide
the wall support for the drilling pipes so that the soil, sand, sandstone do not fall into the hole from the
side wall.

Core barrel:

Coe barrel is the accessory connected to the drilling pipe. It contains two parts, one is the rotating
cutting part and another is non rotating tube part. Rotating part is fitted with reamer and the bits and
non-rotating part holds the core. It is generally made of steel and is single, double and triple tube type of
1.5m or 3m length.

Water Swivel:

Water swivel is connected to the upper most portion of drill rod. They are hung on tripod pulley. It
mainly contains two parts; one rotating part, connected to drill rod of Kelly bar and another stationary
part connected to delivery pipe. It supplies the flushing water from stationary pipe into rotating drill rod.

Tripod:

Tripod is the stand made of three cylindrical steel pipes. It provides full support for hoisting the drill
pipes. It is generally 7m in length and each pipe 3 inch in diameter. The strength and size of tripod
mainly depend upon the required drilling depth

Drilling tools are accessories to be utilized with drilling machine for a variety of drilling applications
required for drilling and coring, and consist of drill rod, casing pipe, bit, sampler and lowering/lifting
tool.

Drill rod:

Drill rod or drill pipe is an important tool to transmit the rotation and feed force generated by drilling
machine to drill bit. Drill rod has another function to deliver circulation fluid from drilling pump to drill
bit through inside drill rod for cooling the bit and for discharging the cuttings to ground surface.

Wire line Drill Rod:

Wire line drill rod is designed to pass inner tube freely inside this rod. This rod has female
and male threads on each tube end without the use of coupling and has a structure of flush
inner surface.
Friction welded type for BQT, NQT, HQT, NTG and HTG size will be optionally available.

Casing Pipe:

Casing pipe is the tubing to be installed in the drilled hole to protect bored hole from
caving while drilling. In addition to bored hole protection, casing pipe has the functions for
the prevention of lost circulation, the reduction of friction betw een drill rod and bored
hole, and for making the recovery of drill strings left in the hole by the accident easier.

Hoisting Water Swivel:

Water swivel has a function for circulating drilling fluid from mud pump through rotating
drill rod while drilling. The one side is connected with swivel hose and the other side is
connected with drill rod. When drill rod connected with water swivel is lowered or lifted,
water swivel is connected with hoisting wire rope by the pin, and water swivel is hence
called as hoisting water swivel.

Rod Holder:

Rod holder is used for holding drill rod at ground surface when lifting from the hole or
lowering into the hole. There are two types of rod holder. The one is manual type with
two jaws and frame (Model RH-45, RH-85) and the other is hydraulically c lamping type
(Model CH-60A).
