Strengths of the lesson:

 Much improved classroom management – confident and relaxed

 Very good voice for the instructions
 Very good short circle time – well done 
 Good concept checking but careful of your English – ‘what you will do?’ should be ‘what will
you do?’
 The boy who had 8 x 6 was doing nothing until you came to support him and then he did all
the sums you gave him. Clear evidence that some children need the support of an adult to
learn – what does this tell you?
 Good monitoring, supporting learning and moving around the classroom
 Confident and relaxed interaction with the children – you support them far more and try to
get to all the children even though this is quite difficult
 Well behaved and generally on task children
 Very good transition at the end (maybe a little noisy) but it was clear they wanted to be the
best table
 Attentive and polite children
 Overall a much improved lesson, well done Layla, I can see you have been listening to my
advice and you have made huge progress 
Focus for next lesson:
 Transition started off well but then got a bit messy – some work still to do on this
 The children who had cards came up with some difficult calculations (8 x 6) and did not know
how to solve this. Perhaps modify this activity a little?
 You need to be a bit more animated during carpet time – if a child gets the answer correct
you need to use a lot more positive feedback
 Think about finding some really engaging activities to achieve your learning objectives
