SANGRIA
(san-GREE-uh)
This red-wine punch dates back to the 1600s
when Spain introduced it to Europe. Sangria can
also be made with white wine, going by the name
Sangria Blanco. We’re sure, however, that our
unaltered red recipe would meet the standards of
even the strictest sangria traditionalists.

GINGER BEER
Stronger than your average ginger soda and able
to demolish summer thirsts in a single gulp, this
African ginger beer recipe would make its
forefathers very proud indeed. African
shopkeepers sometimes sell homemade ginger
brew in recycled vegetable-oil bottles, but we
suggest serving yours in a freshly washed glass.

CAIPIRINHA
(kai-pee-reen-yah with the “r” slightly trilled)
Fresh lime is what gives a caipirinha its “authentic”
taste. But what really sets this drink apart is the use
of cachaça, a uniquely Brazilian rum-like elixir with
a distinctive aroma and taste. In Brazil, the very
best caipirinhas are made with limões galegos,
commonly referred to as a key lime.
