In this issue, I will discuss one of the most powerful divination systems –

Chinese Numerology. This is also called Eastern Numerology or

Karmic Numerology. I will refer to it as Chinese Numerology.

Numerology
Introduction to Chinese Numerology
What is Chinese Numerology?

Chinese (Karmic) Numerology is the oldest recorded method of divination. It appears to

have been developed independently in Ancient China and Ancient Greece at about the
same time. Pythagoras popularised it in Ancient Greece, and this system is sometimes
called the Arrows of Pythagoras. In China, it is called the Lo Shu Numerology.

This method of Numerology is very easy to do and very accurate. It allows you to build a
complete picture of a person by simply knowing their date of birth! And, unlike Astrology,
you don’t require their time of birth nor are there are any complicated calculations to
perform.

The Eastern Numerology Grid

To begin an Eastern Numerology reading, follow these simple steps.

Step 1 – Draw a 3 x 3 grid.

Step 2 – Write out your date of birth using 2 digits for the day, 2 digits for the month and 4
digits for the year, eg 21 10 1981 or 03 01 1996, etc.

Step 3. Write each number in your date of birth in its correct position in the grid. All zero’s
go underneath the grid.

The correct position for each number is shown below.

In other words, the table above shows where all the numbers in the date of birth are written.

All 1’s in a date of birth go in the 1 position, which is in the bottom left side of the grid. All
2’s go in the 2 position, which is directly above the 1, etc.

So someone with a date of birth of 21 10 1981 has the following grid:

Someone with a date of birth of 03 01 1996 has the following grid:

It is impossible to have a chart in which there is a number in every square!

1. Draw a straight, thick line through any column, row or diagonal that has at least one
number in each cell, like tic-tac-toe (naughts and crosses). Also, draw a dotted line through
any column, row or diagonal that has no numbers in all 3 cells. Ignore the zeros when
drawing lines.

See the example below:

The date of birth of 21 10 1981 has the following grid and arrows:
Yet another example for the date of birth of 03 01 1996:

When 3 numbers appear together in a row, column or diagonal (solid lines) they’re called
positive arrows.

When 3 empty cells appear together in a row, column or diagonal (dotted lines), they’re
called negative arrows.

The Number 9
Everyone born in the 20th Century has at least one 9 in their grid. In Chinese Numerology,

others. It also represents idealism and valor. Finally, it represents how well someone

3
These people are highly intelligent, but live with their “heads in the clouds”. There is a

forwards over that line. They have a lot of mental power, and can change the world
for the better if they apply it.
The Number 0

The number 0 (located at the bottom of the grid). In Chinese Numerology, this is a very
important number. It represents Karmic debts that a person has accumulated from their
previous lives. Karma is the belief that one reaps in this lifetime what one sows in previous
lifetimes.

The more 0’s, the more Karmic debts a person has accumulated from previous lifetimes,
and these need to be repaid in this lifetime.

For people with Karmic debts, the same types of people keep showing up in their lives, or
the same situations keep repeating themselves over and over again. They always find
themselves in exactly the same situations. These people often say, “Why do these things
keep happening to me?”

In the last issue, we looked at numbers present in a grid.

We will now look at numbers missing from a grid.

Interpreting Karmic Numbers Missing From

The Grid.
Numbers that are completely missing from someone’s grid indicate lessons that the
person must learn in this lifetime. This life and future lives will improve if these
lessons are learnt.

Missing 1
These people find it difficult to communicate with others.

These people must learn to communicate with others, to really connect with other
people, and to understand other people’s feelings and points of view (sympathy).
They need to really listen to other people. In short, they need to talk less and listen
more.

Missing 2
These people lack sensitivity and intuition. Therefore, they make mistakes by
ignoring or mistrusting the small, quiet voice within. They are also impatient. These
people always try to justify their mistakes, or blame others for them, rather than to
admit to them.

These people must learn to be more sensitive, to trust their intuition, be more
patient and to admit and accept responsibility for their own mistakes.
Missing 3
These people lack confidence. They underestimate themselves, and always put
themselves down. They also have trouble thinking logically when under stress or
distracted.

These people must learn to accept their faults and accept themselves as they are.
They must also learn to mentally focus and ignore disruptions.

Missing 4
People missing a 4 dislike hard work. They find it difficult to work to a set routine.
They are disorganised and lack motivation. Getting out of bed and going to work is
an unattractive proposition. They hate Mondays.

These people must learn discipline, work hard and to enjoy their work.

Missing 5
These people find it hard to set goals. They lack drive and direction. They need
constant motivation from others.

These people must learn to set realistic goals and to complete them.

Missing 6
People missing the number 6 need to be more responsible. They also need to be
more giving of themselves. They tend to hide their own feelings, and have trouble
relating to one or both of their parents. They have problems with relationships until
they learn to be more responsible and more open.

These people must learn to be more responsible, more open, and more loving of
their parents.

Missing 7
These people are inconsiderate of other people’s feelings and misfortunes. They
have little or no real interest in spiritual matters. They dislike being left on their own.

These people must learn to be more considerate of other people’s feelings,

sympathetic to other people’s misfortunes and more relaxed around others.

Missing 8
These people cannot handle their financial matters. They are too careless or too
trusting and suffer financially as a result. They also lack motivation and leave tasks
unfinished.

These people must learn to be less impulsive and think before acting. They need to
control their spending.

Missing 9
These people tend to overlook the feelings and needs of others. They are aloof
and detached. They don’t finish what they start.

They need to learn to give more of themselves and became true humanitarians.
Missing 10
This is not a Karmic debt number. Missing 0’s means Karmic completions. This
person is free from past debts. You’ve paid your dues. This freedom has been a
long time coming. You have no more lessons to learn. Enjoy!

In the next issue, we will look at Chinese Numerology Arrows!

Positive Arrows
The Positive Arrows occur when three numbers appear together in a row, column
or diagonal. These arrows are also called the Arrows Of Strength or the Arrows of
Pythagoras.

Arrows do not appear in every chart. When they do appear, they provide very
accurate insight into a person’s personality. Some people have more than one
positive arrow and this indicates significant capabilities and strength of character.

Having only 2 numbers in a row, column or diagonal indicates an above average

ability in that characteristic.

Having only 1 number indicates a below average ability.

Having no numbers in a row has an entirely different meaning, and is covered in

the next section under Negative Arrows.

Do remember that having these abilities is not as important as what we do with

them. I have encountered many people with excellentNumerology Grids who
have achieved very little in their lives. These people always agree that they have
excellent abilities and capabilities, but do absolutely nothing with them. Then again,
there are many people with only average or below average abilities who are happy
and successful.

Arrow of Mentality

This arrow is made up of the numbers 3,6 and 9.

This gives people a good mind and an excellent memory. These people should
continue to learn and study all their lives. They’re more intellectual than emotional
or practical. They tend to look down on those who are not their intellectual equals,
which attract bad Karma.
Arrow of Emotionality

This arrow is made up of the numbers 2,5 and 8.

These people are compassionate, understanding and emotionally balanced. They

tend to achieve their goals.

Arrow of Practicality

This arrow is made up of the numbers 1,4 and 7.

These people are practical and down-to-earth. They are also very capable with
their hands and are very easy to get along with. They tend to work long and hard
for anything they believe in.

Arrow of Planning

This arrow is made up of the numbers 1,2 and 3.

These people are well organised who enjoy planning ahead. They have the
capacity to carry out plans. However, they are undisciplined with detail.
Arrow of Willpower

This arrow is made up of the numbers 4,5 and 6.

These people have much willpower. They are determined and unbelievably
persistent. However, they can be a little stubborn. They can sometimes be
unaware of the feelings of others and may accidentally hurt others in their
relentless drive to reach their goals.

Arrow of Activity

This arrow is made up of the numbers 7,8 and 9.

People with this arrow in their chart must express themselves through action. They
need to be either physically or mentally busy. They have the ability to put
thoughts into action. They prefer being outdoors with lots of room around them.

Arrow of Determination

This arrow is made up of the numbers 1,5 and 9.

These people are determined and persistent. They are also enterprising. They are
patient and are prepared to wait for whatever it is they have set their minds on.
These people can have a bad temper.
Arrow of Compassion

This arrow is made up of the numbers 3,5 and 7.

These people develop a strong faith and philosophy of life. They could also be
interested in mysticism, spirituality, the occult or the psychic arts. As they mature,
they develop an inner serenity and a strong faith that sustains and comforts them.
Many people with this arrow have a strong interest in music.

Negative Arrows
The Negative Arrows occur when three numbers are missing in a row, column or
diagonal. Negative arrows indicate the areas of life that a person needs to make
the greatest effort in this lifetime. Some of the negative arrows are Karmic – they
indicate that in a previous lifetime, a person did not put in enough effort into these
areas. These will continue with continue in subsequent lifetimes until the required
effort is made.

Arrow of Poor Memory

This is not a Karmic arrow.

This arrow is made up of the absence of the numbers 3,6 & 9.

This arrow cannot not occur for anyone born in the 20 th Century.

These people are forgetful and absent minded. This does not mean they are not
clever. Some are very smart and witty, eg, an absent-minded professor.

Their memory gets worse over time.

Arrow of Sensitivity

This is a Karmic arrow.

This arrow is made up of the absence of the numbers 2,5 & 8.

These people are very sensitive and easily hurt. They try and hide their feelings.
They are usually shy as children, though some overcome this shyness as they
mature. Unfortunately, some develop a lifelong inferiority complex. These people
need to learn to accept criticism from others.

Arrow of Impracticality

This is a Karmic arrow.

This arrow is made up of the absence of the numbers 1,4 & 7.

This arrow cannot not occur for anyone born in the 20 th Century.

These people are not practical. They live their lives using logic, emotion, intuition,
fantasy and theory. They are very idealistic and romantic. They find it difficult to
function in everyday life. These people need to learn to become grounded in reality,
and to become more practical.
Arrow of Frustrations

This is a Karmic arrow.

This arrow is made up of the absence of the numbers 4,5 & 6.

People with this arrow suffer from more than their fair share disappointments and
frustrations. Disappointment can sometimes lead to depression. Frustration can
sometimes lead to aggression. These people suffer disappointments and
frustrations because they expect too much from other people. They also expect too
much from themselves. These people need to learn to accept both other people
and themselves as they are, otherwise they will continue to suffer endless
frustrations.

Arrow of Inactivity

This is a Karmic arrow.

This arrow is made up of the numbers 7,8 & 9.

These people lack motivation. They fail to make plans. They hesitate. They
procrastinate. They don’t act. As a result, they seldom achieve much. Once they
learn self-discipline and set realistic and achievable goals for themselves, they
become high achievers.

That’s it for Numerology!
