Executive Summary
Over the past few years, the importance of sustainability in the

design, construction, operations and maintenance of buildings,
factories and even cities has become more and more pronounced.
The growing recognition of green buildings rating schemes such
as GRIHA, IGBC and LEED has provided the right impetus to this
movement. Buildings are large consumers of energy, and the building
sector is expected to become the highest consumer of electricity in
India in the coming years, surpassing the industrial sector. Bearing
this challenge in mind, Schneider Electric India Pvt. Ltd has published
a directory of it’s products and solutions that taps into the innovative
and technological strength of the company and will enable our
customers to conform to the various green building rating scheme
that are prevalent in India. Be it for new construction or retrofits of
buildings, our products and solutions can contribute significantly in
getting certification under different green rating systems used in
India. (Refer table on page 1 for summary)
Our products and solutions that can make the buildings reliable,
safe and more energy efficient, include medium voltage power
distribution (sub-stations, transformers, ring main units, breakers,
etc.), low-voltage distribution (advanced and communicable
electrical panels, bus trunking system, advanced metering solutions)
to minimize distribution losses, building management systems,
lighting and HVAC controls, energy management systems, and
renewable energy solutions. Our products comply with national
and international standards such as NEC, IEC and IEEE; as well as
environmental standards such as ROHS. Many of these products
are made in green factories, which have received the ISO 50001
certification. As of September 2014, ten of our factories and
offices have received ISO 50001, the global standard in energy
management. In addition, two of our factories have received the
Gold rating under IGBC Green Factory rating system. Most of these
products also have a very small environmental footprint, which is
validated by an international Eco Passport program’s PEP (Product
Environmental Profile) indicator.

Integrated Building Management System (IBMS)
Schneider Electric offers a wide range of products and solutions for

building management systems.
SmartStruxure™ is the next generation of integrated Building

Management System (iBMS), which offers a powerful, scalable, easy-
to-use iBMS, which enables you to monitor, measure, and optimize
your building’s performance throughout its life cycle. StruxureWare™
Building Operation software, facilitates the exchange and analysis
of data from energy, lighting, fire safety, and HVAC. Andover
Continuum and Tac I/Net provides controls for HVAC and Access
Control. Tac Vista offer advanced solutions for a smarter building
energy management system. HVAC Valves, Actuators, Dampers,
Thermostats and controllers are some of the other offerings in this
space providing air control that helps in ensuring environmental
safety and energy efficiency.
Our Power Logic meters optimize energy performance in a building.

They have Green Premium Label and confirm to all IEC specs and
PEP as well. We also have smart demand controllers.
SmartStruxureLite solution provides energy efficiency and comfort

for light commercial & mid market buildings (less than 10,000
sqm). Smart Struxure Lite offers a wide variety of wired & wireless
products for retrofits, HVAC, lighting & metering projects . It can also
be used in larger buildings as part of BACnet , oBIX or IP/Ethernet
system.

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
(HVAC) Controls
Schneider Electric offers solutions for HVAC controls in the form

of logic controllers for air handling units, controls for low capacity
chillers (<100 kW), and controllers for heat pumps, air handling
system, precision air conditioners, refrigerated display windows,
etc. The Modicon range of controllers is compliant with the open
standards such as BACnet, Modbus, LONWorks and KNX. The
controllers are equipped with sensors for CO2/VOC, temperature
and humidity to ensure optimum indoor environmental quality.
The temperature sensors have a range of -50 to 1000C, while the
humidity can be measured from 0 percent to 100 percent. Also,
the Altivar series of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) is well suited
for speed regulation by flux vector control with or without sensor,
leading to greater energy efficiency.

Schneider Electric’s lighting management solutions (Sympholux) can

optimize your lighting with a choice of customizable KNX, C-Bus and
DALI platforms, automatically deactivating lights in unused spaces.
They can minimize heat from lighting and reduce the loading on
your air-conditioning system by dimming lights and automatically
controlling blinds. The system can also operate lights during an
adjustable preset period of time, leading to more energy savings. We
also offer analog and digital timers, lux switches and Astronomical
Time Switch. Our Clipsal series has different occupancy sensors,
daylight sensors and dimmers.
Our special product, Coolite is a lighting energy saver. It gives high

energy savings on lighting loads - cooler lamp operation with all
types of discharge lamps. It filters harmonics that are injected to
the line by electronic lighting ballasts and reduces spikes in lighting
circuits and enables Power Factor improvement. It gives a safe and
flicker free lamp startup. It is eligible for tax benefits for energy
saving investments and 80% depreciation in the first year in India as
per section 32 of the Income Tax Act 1961. Further, with automatic
operation, need for manpower is reduced.

Schneider Electric’s solutions for the industrial sector include control

and signaling, human machine interfaces, automation control system,
telemetry and remote SCADA. Also included are drives for utility,
buildings, processes and machines. We have a complete offer for
industrial plants and end users, which include motor starter and
contactors, AC drives and motors, HMI advanced panels, PACs, PLCs
and controllers. Our SCADA systems support Industry standard
protocols such as ASCI, BACnet, IEC 870-5, modmus, OPC etc. Our
solutions have been used in several IGBC rated Green Factories in
India.
ION7550 has revenue-class power and energy metering, event

and min/max logging, historical logging (up to 800 channels),
expandable memory, sag/swell monitoring, harmonics measurement,
waveform capture at 256 samples/cycle, setpoints, digital and
analogue I/O, and Internet-enabled multi-port communications. It
complies with Green Premium and IEEE standards. Our PM 5000
meters are also a Green Premium product.

Acti 9 iEM3000 series Masterpact ACBs and Compact MCCBs
Our LV and MV capacitors, relays, and APFC panels enhance power

quality. The performance of our active harmonic filters exceeds the
requirement of IEEE 519-1992. Also, these APFCs are manufactured
in our Bangalore factory, which itself is an IGBC Gold rated factory. In
the low voltage range, our ACBs and MCCB (Masterpact, Compact
and EasyPact) offer communication capability which enable
monitoring and control up to load level. Our power monitoring
systems are “Green Premium” certified products and are registered
under the Product Environmental Profile “Eco Passport” program.
Our MCBs and RCDs are REACH and RoHS compliant. Our Prisma
Premset series of switch boards are IEC 61439-1&2 compliant. Our Power
Monitoring Expert (PME) and Power SCADA Expert (PSE) software
give power quality compliance reporting for international standards
like IEC 61000 4-30 and EN 50160.
The Acti 9 iEM3000 series energy meters is a cost-attractive,

feature-rich energy metering offer for DIN rail, modular enclosures.
With native Modbus, BACnet, M-bus and LON protocol support,
the Acti 9 iEM3000 series meters are more than just kWh meters,
and provide a full view of both energy consumption and on-site
generation with full four-quadrant measurement of active and
reactive energy delivered and received.
Trihal is a cast resin dry type, 50 Hz, three-phase distribution

transformer. It can be used indoors with proper enclosure. It has
Trihal HE
natural air cooling system (AN type). It complies to ISO 12944-2.
Premset switchboards are designed to integrate distributed
intelligence for feeder automation, protection and energy quality
applications.
The Power Logic PM5000 series of meters are suited for power
quality measurement, 4 quadrant measurement, predictive demand
profiling, and it is a green premium product with PEP labeling.

Schneider Electric provides industry leading hardware, software and

services designed to ensure availability and higher energy efficiency.
We have single phase, three phase and modular UPS systems.
Symmetra, which is our modular UPS product, has best in class
energy efficiency. We also have high performance cooling systems
for data centers, which provide cooling for racks, rows, rooms and
other places in buildings.
Energy efficient UPS and Precision Air Conditioners (PAC) contribute

to better Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) within a data center.
PUE is the ratio of energy consumed by the total facility and energy
consumed by IT equipment in a data center.
Our StruxureWare for Data Centers is a complete system which

provides, monitoring, control of power, cooling, security, and energy
usage control. It can provide dashboards for floor level, row level
and rack level monitoring. Schneider Electric has a patented 3D
cooling technology for locating hot spots and identifying excessive
cooling. With all the hardware and software in place, Schneider
Electric complements it with a certified field service team which
provides services for installation, preventive maintenance and remote
monitoring of energy consumption and other operations of data
centers.

Renewable Energy (Solar)

Schneider Electric offers products and solutions for grid-interactive,
off-grid, residential, commercial and backup solutions for solar
energy. Some of the key components of the system include charge
controllers, battery based inverter / charger, grid tie inverters, remote
monitoring systems, monitoring and control units, etc.
The Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) photovoltaic (PV) charge

controllers track the maximum power point of a photovoltaic cell and
PV box power conversion system regulate battery voltage and output current. The Conext TM XW
single and three phase inverters /chargers allow for integration of
solar capacity as required. MPPT SCC C12 series of charge, lighting
or load controllers allow for charging, and user definable voltage
parameters can be configured for 12V, 24V or 48 V operations. The
Conext TM RL single phase grid tie inverters to maximize the yields
of solar power for a wide range of rooftops of detached houses and
multiple dwellings. The Conext TL series of 3 phase grid tie solar
inverters are suitable for outdoor use and can be used in carports,
commercial buildings, and decentralized PV plants. The Conext
Monitor 20 is a compact monitoring and control unit. This datalogger
allows the remote visualization and monitoring of the data when it is
connected via Ethernet.
Inverters Schneider Electric’s Solar Water Pumping Solution is a fully automatic

system for buildings or factories. It uses the most advanced ATV312
Solar variable speed drive to regulate the speed of a 3 phase AC
motor depending upon the energy available from solar panel. The
drive can regulate flow of the pump depending on the availability of
energy from the Sun. The Run-Stop-Restart feature automates the
management of these pumps with self protection features. We also
have ION8650 for utility grade metering and PM5000 for 4 quadrant
measurements.

Schneider Electric offers several products and solutions for power

distribution that enable efficient operation of the electrical systems
and are compliant with international and Indian codes and standards.
The offerings in the medium voltage (MV) range for the buildings
Metering Products
and industrial sector include breakers, relays, panels, transformers,
vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs) and Ring Main Units (RMUs). The
offering in the MV range are IEC 622271-100&200 complaint and
they also comply with the local standards. Our dry type transformers
offer self extinguishing capability in case of a fire and limit the
formation of fumes that can preserve the indoor environment quality.
Our substation control systems and protector IEDs comply with IEC
61850 global standards. Our Accusine harmonic filter is a complete
solution that meets every harmonic standard around the world and
can be operated as a displacement power factor correction and load
balancing device independent of or in conjunction with harmonic
mitigation.
Power Monitoring Expert (PME) provides a complete power

management solution for buildings and industry by tracking of real-
time power conditions, analysis of power quality and reliability, and
quick response to alarms to avoid critical situations.
StruxureWare Energy Operation (SEO) is a Software-as-a-Service

(SaaS) offer that provides energy use information tailored to diverse
audiences, to help organizations monitor and optimize energy use
and reduce operating expenses.
We offer several solutions for green buildings and factories, including

monitoring systems for resource consumption (WAGES- Water, Air,
Gas, Energy and Steam), and sensors for monitoring CO2 levels in the

Technopolis IT Park – Green Building with BMS

Customer Profile and Background
Technopolis IT Park, Kolkata, is India’s first Green Information
Technology building. It is a 14-story office building creating
425,000 sq. ft. of workspace, complete with a Business Center and
Conference Facilities.
Technopolis was conceptualized as India’s first Green IT building.

The project was built to adhere to strict pre-requisites for US Green
Building Council’s Leed Certification, such as:

management program called Schneider Energy Action globally to
reduce the energy consumption of its facilities by 10 percent over a
three year period. In India, the Energy Efficiency Team took up the
mantle of implementing this program. Schneider Electric recognized
the value of ISO 50001 early on and its Corporate Headquarters
known as “The Hive” was the first ISO 50001 certified building in the
