    ePMP Software Release 4.1.3 includes improvements to Point-to-Point link throughput and latency as well as making the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) configurable. Updates were made to increase throughput and reduce latency of PTP links. Operators can now specify the MTU size, with larger sizes enabling more efficient network operation but reducing efficiency if large packets must be resent due to errors.

    Latency improvements

    Software updates to reduce the latency of links

    Configurable MTU

    Operators may now specify the device MTU or Maximum Transmission Unit; the size in bytes of the
    largest data unit that the device is configured to process. Larger MTU configurations can enable the
    network to operate with greater efficiency, but in the case of retransmissions due to packet errors,
    efficiency is reduced since large packets must be resent in the event of an error.
