Throughout the Fall quarter of 2018, professor Masha Fedorova’s Writing 2 students

specifically focused on the topic of genres. In this portfolio, I incorporated revised writing

project number one and three as well as the initial pieces with the professor’s comments. I feel as

if these projects exemplify my best work out of the three assigned. In addition to the writing

assignments, I included a cover letter that discusses new writing techniques and strategies I

learned from this course. The first writing project required an analysis of a non-academic

discourse community based on Swales’s six factors; I also explored the conventions of Facebook

because it serves as the community’s primary genre in reference to communication amongst the

members. The third writing project involved a translation of one genre into another by mainly

focusing on purpose, content, and audience.
