The Guidelines & Competition Official Rules

Introduction
This document describes the official rules of “Sonee Hardware 40th Anniversary Logo Design
Competition”. Information on how to enter the competition and about the prize is part of the
official rules.

Eligibility
1. The competition is open to general public, individuals, creative agencies, companies,
schools, educational institutions, organizations, etc.

2. There is no age limit to participate in the competition.

3. The employees of Sonee hardware, Sonee sports, Asters, Fortsen shades, Atollinx, Haifal
construction, and Muart & A design are not eligible to enter the competition.

How to Enter
1. Entries must be submitted by
a. Email to marketing@sonee.com.mv. The entries must be submitted in a single
image file including both B&W and colour versions of logo on a white
background (no transparency), in JPG format, placed in a 800 x 1000 pixel
format with a resolution of 72 dpi. See the Submission Guidelines below for
further information.

b. Hardcopies of the logo must be addressed and submitted in a sealed envelope

Hardcopy entries must be on A4 size (210x297mm) paper & must include both

B&W and colour versions of logo (both on a single A4 page). See the submission
guidelines below for further information.

2. The email or hardcopy must include the name, age, address, phone number and email
address of the participant.

3. Entries must conform to the submission guidelines set out below. Entries which fail to
do so will be disqualified.

4. The deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m (1700 hours) of May 10th, 2010, Maldives local
time.

5. We will acknowledge all entries within 3 days of receipt; however, we cannot be

responsible for entries or responses lost in e-mail. Please communicate with us if no
response is received from us within 3 days from submission.

6. There is no fee to enter the competition.

Submission Guidelines
1. The purpose of the competition is to design a logo for Sonee Hardware's 40th
Anniversary. The winning logo will be used for promotional purposes.

2. Flexibility is a key requirement, and should look good in both black and white and in
colour.

3. The logo needs to look good at relatively small sizes.

4. You may use the following text options as a tagline with the logo. “40th Anniversary” ,
“40 anniversary”, & “1970 – 2010”.

5. You may use a maximum 3 colours in your design with red as one of the colours.

6. Logo must be original & creation of the participants themselves.

7. Participants should take care to ensure that their entries are not in any way similar to
existing logos or other copyrighted images.

8. Winner must provide file in scalable vector graphic format (EPS, AI or CorelDRAW) upon
winning. We advise against the use of halftones and gradients unless created inside a

vector graphics program. Colour in this version must be CMYK.

9. The limit on attachment size for our email server is 5Mb per email. If your submission
exceeds this size, please send the images individually and note clearly in your emails that
you are doing so.

10. You may enter as many designs as desired.

Prize
The winning design will be announced on “www.sonee.com.mv” before the end of May 2010.
The winning designer will receive a cash prize of MRF 20,000.00

Judging and Selection of Winning logo

1. The winning logo will be selected by Sonee Hardware or judges appointed for the
purpose by sonee hardware. Their decision will be final.

2. Sonee Hardware reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no
suitable entries are received.

3. Sonee Hardware reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the
deadline or guidelines given.

4. The winner will be required to sign a contract assigning all ownership of the logo to
Sonee Hardware.

5. Accepting the prize constitutes permission for Sonee Hardware to make public and
otherwise use winner's name, and country of residence for publicity purposes. Further
personal data may be requested but is not required.

Intellectual Property
1. All submitted work must be original and not based on any pre-existing design.

2. All entries will become the sole property of Sonee Hardware and may not be returned.

3. The winning entry will be registered by Sonee Hardware and the participant agrees to
transfer all rights to Sonee Hardware in accordance with the official rules of this
competition.

Acceptance
Participation constitutes the participant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of
these official rules. By participating in the competition, the entrant is representing and warranting
that he/she has read and understood, and agrees to be bound by, these rules. Including the
guides and rules referred to herein, these official rules constitute the entire agreement between
the entrant and sonee hardware in relation to the competition. They govern the entrant's
participation and supersede any prior or other agreements between the entrant and Sonee
Hardware and relating to the competition.
