Exam Requirements
As required by the admissions requirements for UNLV, NSC, and UNR, the
Praxis Core Exam or the CBEST exam must be passed to enroll in an Education
Bachelor’s degree program at these Nevada institutions. Passing scores for the Praxis
Core in Nevada for Math, Reading, and Writing are as follows: The minimum passing
score I must attain on the math section of the exam is 150. The minimum passing score
that one must achieve on the reading section of the exam is 156. The minimum passing
Exam Preparation
My exam preparation has included reading published books, such as Praxis I that
corroborate methods on passing the Praxis Core exam, while also educating on the

as I learn best by visual examples, and researching the types of questions present on the

determine what areas are needed that I spend more study time towards before taking the
Praxis exam. In the math practice exam, I scored 74% which is borderline passing. With a
score within the 74% range, I have an equal chance of passing the exam. With this result,
which stated that “significant improved is needed.” Surprisingly, it was not the questions
or answer choices that were most perplexing to me, but the several selections of Old-
English passages within this online practice exam that hindered my ability to understand
what the passages were about. The Praxis study books that I currently utilize do not have
studies on vocabulary and word meaning, central ideas, inferences and assumptions,
organization, and comparing and contrasting passages. Moreover, for the writing section,
I scored in the 85% range, which means that I’m likely to pass the official Praxis exam.
As I have not taken all portions of the official Praxis Core exam, I plan to utilize
textbooks, EdReady, KhanAcademy, and other online resources that will assist in
ensuring that I do pass all three sections of the examination. Unfortunately, CSN has not
offered any Praxis Core Review courses in the past two years that I have been enrolled as
a student; thus, I will continue to use textbooks and online resources to study for the
Praxis Core exam and to take Praxis practice exams. I will also continue to utilize Khan
Academy for the math section of the exam, and I will look into possible tutoring
opportunities so I can ensure that I pass these sections of the exam within the next couple
of weeks.
