Questions using Remembering level:
Bloom’s
Taxonomy levels -   Ask the students questions related to previous lesson, and also asking
them random questions to refresh their minds such as: 3+3 is equal to
what. In addition, when the students are going to roll the dice, any
number that appears they will add it together, this is a way to remember
addition too. A question on the power point slide is a revision for the
previous lesson too.

Understanding level:

-   Explaining to the students and discussing with them about which two
numbers will give you 10.

Applying level:

-   Asking the students to use the paper as a group project and solve. Also,
the students will come to the board and answer the question.

Showing the students how to break two numbers (parts) to get a 10 (whole).

Evaluating level:

Ask the pupils questions related to the lesson.

Creating level:

Students will be given a paper and will have to draw circles to find the whole
(10).
Introduction (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group
activities)

-   Greet the students.

-   Display the power point slides and to the calendar slide to ask the students about
today’s date.
-   Switch on the counting to 20 video as a warm up.
-   Choose a team leader for the group.
-   Ask questions to recap the previous lesson.
-   Go through two revision questions. The questions are: “Hessa went to the book shop
and bought 7 pink pencils and 3 blue pencils. How many pencils are in total?”, “If
Hessa got 5 pink pencils instead of 7, how much pencils in total will it be?”.
-   Students will then be asked to get their small board and I will let them write the
answer of an equations. For example, (5+5=?)
-   Recognize the vocabularies of the lesson (whole, part). In addition, I will write for
example, 6+4=10 (6 and 4 are parts and the sum 10 is a whole) then, I will ask the
Time: 20 min

which one is the whole and circle it.

-   I will then go over the slides and solve with the student’s questions.
Whole

-   Students will then start the activities as groups.

Independent Experience (small group activity 1): Writing the missing part of 10
Time: 20
Small

In this activity, students will be given a laminated worksheet (distributed by the leader of
min

the group that I will choose), which they will have to use the water bottle caps too with it

and try to get which two numbers will their sum be 10 (I will model the activity first). For
example, if they put 5+5=10, they will put the water bottle caps underneath the 5 and 5, this
way the students will use their fine motor skills and will understand more.

In the activity, I will ask the high ability students to do as much as the could, medium
ability students I will ask them to do 4, and low ability students 2 or 3.

Independent Experience (small group activity 2): The house

In this activity, students will be given a small piece of paper with the drawing of a house
(distributed by the leader of the group that I will choose), which they will write two
numbers and circles using two different color markers on the part of the house and write the
sum 10 on the roof of the house. (I will model the activity first).

In the activity, I will ask the high ability students to do as much as the could, medium
ability students I will ask them to do 4, and low ability students 2 or 3.

I will ask the students to put everything away and clean up and sit properly, then, ask them
the challenge question which is “On Sunday, Ali’s mother went to the pet store and bought
one piece of dog biscuit for every day in each week day. So, how much piece did she
Time: 5 min

bought?”
Closing

And whoever answers it, will get a reward which is a stick to put it on their pictures,
whoever gets 5 sticks will pick a present from the reward present glass cabinet.
