Asbestos Removal Contract

Any material containing more than one percent asbestos refers to an ACM 1% Over. And
Presumed Asbestos Containing Material (PACM) is known to be any material found in any civil
structure or facility constructed before 1980 when the Asbestos was very common. These type
of materials were commonly used in construction facilities like floors, wall structures, and
thermal insulation systems before 1980.

Policy

If any employee observe any asbestos containing material, they should report it to contractor.
Then the owner of the site have 24 hours to work on it while they fully vacate the area from all
workers. Owner should find out correct methods to remove and properly dispose the asbestos
material from the site and notify the contractor of all progress.

Compliance and method statement

The owner of the site should hire a company from registered environmental protection agency
which can do the environmental impact study of the site and find out the correct location, type
and approximate quantity of asbestos material in the site. After the workdone, owner should
present a final report to the contractor about the removal and safe disposal of asbestos. During
the removing operation of asbestos onsite, owner should tasked with the use of engineering
controls like wet methods, HEPA vacuum clraners to minimize the flow of dust on workers.

Prohibitions

During removal process, there should not be any use of compressed air, dry sweeping or
rotating of employees. This should be applied on all sites or facilities irrespective of any
asbestos quantity.

Training

All employees working in areas having zero or permissible exposure limit should be provided
with 2hrs of OSHA Awareness training.
