Methodology

A. Locale of the study

This research will be conducted at the locality of Valencia City
B. Respondent of the study
This research will involve the citizens living in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
C. Research Instrument
This research, entitled ‘Political Trust in the local government of Valencia
City in a span of ten years’ will utilize the use of data mining. Data will be
gathered through surveys which will compose of three questions that
would relate and aim to determine the following:
a) The consistency of the implementation of the project/s.
b) The attitude of the leaders towards his constituents.
c) The way of the local government of Valencia City in hearing the
concerns of the public.
D. Research Design
The qualitative-descriptive method will be used in this research in order to
analyse the data gathered.
E. Research Tool
In this research study the tool that will be primarily use is both surveying
and data mining. In surveying, questions will be given to the respondents
in order to gather the needed data. And in data mining, relevant papers
will be used as references in order to gather data as well.
Review of Related Literature

Trust is a word that has proven to be hard to define (Castaldo, 2008). In the world
of politics the word “trust” is very important in order to gain confidence from your
constituents. In this research our topic is focused about the level of political trust on our
chosen place. Hardin (1998) defines political trust as the measurement of citizen’s belief
in the institution which govern them. He also added that it is not an expression of
“trusting personalities” but an evaluation of the political world. According to Hardin
(1998) political trust is important because democracies are based on institutional
mechanisms that are supposed to ensure that politicians in a trustworthy manner. Hardin
(1998) states that low trust suggest that something in the political system – politicians or
institutions – or both – is thought to be functioning poorly. The researcher chose to focus
their research about the level of political trust in their chosen place because first the
researcher wanted to know if the institution governing the people of their chosen locality
is functioning well or poorly. Second, the researcher wanted the people of their chosen
locality to evaluate their local government by asking them their level of political trust
towards them. And lastly, the researcher wanted to measure the level of political trust in
their chosen locality in order to somehow enlighten the politicians there on what else they
should do in order to satisfy their constituents if the political trust result is low.

 In this research, the researcher believe that it will really help the locality of
Valencia City in many things after the data gathered will be analyze. This research may
also cause the people of Valencia City become more participative in evaluating their local
government and somehow evaluate the projects being implemented. The researchers also
believe that if the result of this research about the level of political trust is low, it will
enlighten the minds of the local officials to have a better plans for their constituents.
