Subject/Skill:
Multicultural Education: Teaching the basics on understanding how prejudice works.
Objective:
Students will engage in prejudice activity and will be able to describe and
understand the meaning of prejudice.
Will view a prejudice video that gives a better understanding of lesson.
Will review and define types of prejudice
Will discuss gender, racial/ethnic minority, immigrants, refugees and gypsy
populations, age, sexual orientation, class, disability and self-expression prejudice.
Students at the end of presentation will be able to identify the meaning of prejudice
and identify the different types of prejudice.
Students will become more aware of their own prejudice thoughts and be able to
apply it in their own future teaching careers.
Procedures/instruction:
I. Pass out worksheet
II. Start PowerPoint
Slide 1: Introduction to prejudice
Slide 2: Overview of lesson plan
III. Students will complete the first section of worksheet and discuss with a partner
Slide 3: Will play a Sneetches video for students
IV. Students will then complete the rest of the worksheet
V. Will discuss as a class

Slide 5: Psychology of Prejudice
Slide 6: Different forms of prejudice
Slide 7: Ways to eliminate our prejudice thoughts

Modifications:
Adding a young kid’s book to make lesson plan more engaging and entertaining for student.
Group discussion is part of lesson plan to increase student’s attention to lesson plan.
Grouping Structure:
Whole classroom interaction, in classroom, and student partner interaction
Assessment:
Question-and-answer: Having students work on a worksheet that I will collect at the end of
the classroom and be able to evaluate their work.
At the end of the lesson we will review material with a small pop quiz to evaluate student’s
attention to lesson plan.
Closure:
Inserted a review at the end of presentation on material taught during lesson plan. Will
have student participate and answer three questions on material.
