Plant Life

• Plants need water, sunlight, air, and nutrients

to stay alive.
• Plants can be helpful, like fruits, vegetables,
and trees.
• Plants can also be hurtful, like Poison Ivy,
Oak, and Sumac.
• Plants consist of different parts, some
examples include the stem, the leaves, the
flower, and the seeds.
• A plant begins it’s life cycle as a seed.
• Trees change throughout the seasons, in the
spring they grow leaves and flowers, while in
the fall, the trees lose leaves and begin to lay
dormant for the winter.
The Water Cycle

Condensation is Evaporation
when water vapor is when
in the air cools warmth from
down and turns the sun
back into liquid causes water
water. Clouds are to rise into
made when vapor the air and
droplets join turn into
together. water vapor
(gas).

Precipitation is Collection is when water

when water falls falls from the clouds and
from the clouds collects in the oceans, rivers,
in the sky. and lakes. Most will soak into
the ground and soil.
Life Cycles

Life cycles differ

depending on the
type of animal. These
animals all begin as
eggs, while mammals
give birth to live
babies.
Severe Weather

• Blizzard- An intense winter storm with high winds and lots of snow.

• Earthquake- The shaking or movement of a portion of the Earth’s

surface.

• Hurricane- An intense storm with swirling winds up to 150 miles per

hour.

• Tornado- A funnel cloud with spinning columns of air that drop down
from a severe thunderstorm.

• Flood- The result from days of heavy rain and/or melting snow.
Rock Types

• Igneous- A type of rock that is formed

through the cooling and solidification of
magma or lava.

• Metamorphic- A type of rock that has

been changed by extreme heat and
pressure.

• Sedimentary- A type of rock that is

formed by the weathered remains of
other rocks.

• Fossils- The remains of a prehistoric

organism that is petrified in rock.
