To solve the problem provided to us, I used methods such as vector formation to be able to tell
the difference between S1 and S2 we found that the missing vector is found by using S=S2-S1, which
produces an equation to drive rate of change, between the two airplanes. The way this was achieved
was by deriving the absolute value of S. The reason we took lSl was to allow us to read our negative
measurement we achieved.

The most difficult part I encountered while doing this project was acquiring the equation of the
graph. It took me a good minute of looking at my drawing to finally understand that I was to use
𝑎2 + 𝑏 2 = 𝑐 2 . We were provided with all the information to set up the final side, accept of using a,b,
and c. I used S, S1 and S2 which might have messed me up at first but once I figured it out, it was simple
mathematics.

This project has provided me with insight into how we use math to measure rates of change
between two physical objects. Now with this knowledge I can see how this is applied all around us. For
instance the rate of change between planetary orbits, or possible rates of radio wave changes with
connection to NASA rovers. In my field of study we are able to use rates of change to calculate how far a
particle has particular moved or measure the Pi bond of certain molecules and their directional change,
when a chemical change occurs.
