- What are the daily tasks in your field?

- What jobs are there available in this field? Are there jobs that require a higher level of

- What is your job? -Senior Lecturer of Recreation Management for the OEE (Outdoor
Experiential Learning) concentration
- What are the daily tasks in your field? -Teach students, Evaluations, Advising, Class
prep, Committees, and Extracurriculars, such as The Mountain Alliance, whose mission
is to provide transformative experiences and support to all Avery and Watauga
teenagers, regardless of means or background. Through volunteer service, challenging
outdoor adventure, cultural outings, after school academic support and mentorship.
- What skills are needed in your field? -A Masters degree, Experience in the field, (he has
over 30 years experience in the field!)
- How is writing used in your field? -Program design, Policy, Risk management,
Assessment, and Training manuals.
- How often is writing used in your field? -Often it’s used in everything we do in some
way or another.
- What level of formality is used in your writings? -Most of our writing is technical as
opposed to more formal norms that the other disciplines that are more APA type oriented,
Risk management requires legally binding documents!!! Writing is normally less formal
but more specific (ie. reflections on experiences ie. a journal about a specific hands on
experience)
- If given the chance to start over, would you pursue the same career? If yes, why? If no
what would your other choice be? -Yes, because I get to live to work as opposed to
working to live, my work is incredibly satisfying and transformative for me and the
people I work with.
- What jobs are there available in this field? Are there jobs that require a higher level of
skill in writing? -Administrator (more writing) Counselor (less writing), Higher role =
more writing every time. People such as program planners for places like retirement
communities will be required to keep up with large loads of different activities and
schedules which all need writing or even wedding planners need some sort of writing.
