Internet Addiction Disorder while stressing on legitimize concept of “Internet Gaming

Disorder-IGD”. The research focuses on the negative impact and potential harm of

internet use. Andrel and Paraipan also claims on the benefit of gaming that increase the

interest of medical community as alternative form of curing depression. The purpose of

research is to provide insight on the current perspectives of Internet Addiction disorders

through holistic approach while considering the context of Internet gaming as

consequences.

Bhardwaj, V. K., & Rani, M. (2018). Effect of internet addiction in relation to healthiness and

well-being in rural and urban students: Comparative study. Indian Journal of Health &

Wellbeing, 9(1), 12-18.

Bhardwaj and Rani in their research reflect on the risks of Internet addiction especially in

rural and urban students. The author analyzed that the use of internet in the society has

been increasing recently. Given the risks and increasing usage of Internet, the research

aimed to explore the healthiness and wellbeing in rural and urban school students. The

data reflected that rural school students are higher on healthiness and wellbeing as

compared to the urban student mainly because they don’t utilize the internet. The internet

addiction on urban students is higher than rural students.

The researchers explore the usage and attitude of the African American and Hispanic

Teenagers regarding Facebook and text messaging. The research stresses on the influence

of Facebook and text messaging on the personality and gender due to increasing

communication technologies. The research claims on the significant relationship between

the Facebook and text messaging with anxiety and sensitive or cheerfulness of the

teenagers. Researchers put forth their analysis on the significant negative relationship

between communication technologies and personality.

on the reading habits and practices of college students. Journal of Adolescent & Adult

Literacy, 52(7), 609-619.

In this research, the authors explore the Internet and Television usage as compared to the

reading habits and practices. The researchers put forth their issues on the displacement of

the academic and recreational practices for the Internet and television watching. The

claims that Internet as the prominent communication and information technology creates

a negative atmosphere where the students are more prone towards Internet and watching

television as compare to the reading or recreational activities.

This resource is actually a letter to the editor that focuses on the Internet addiction among

the students. The author put forth their claim that Internet has become on the medium
 accessible to the population who use the technology under different form of abuse. The

issues like cyber sexual addiction, gamming, trading and web surfing contribute to make

the addiction of the Internet more compulsive. The author stresses on the one third

population of students as the addicts of Internet and explain their usage as negative on

personality, psychological and physical life.

between the affective components of psychological well-being and the cognitive

In this research, the researchers explore the life satisfaction and self-esteem on the strong

basis of internet use. Researchers analyze the mediator roles on the subjective well beings

regarding the Internet use under the conceptualization of Davis. The impact of life

satisfaction and cognitions about the Internet use results in the negative affect on the life

satisfaction. There is indirect influence of problematic internet usage.

Suzan, L. G., & Koc, M. (2012). Internet abuse among teenagers and its relations to internet

usage patterns and demographics. Journal of Educational Technology & Society, 15(2),

25-36.

The researcher explores the Internet abuse among the teenagers especially in relation with

the Internet Usage pattern and demographic characteristics. The researchers claim that

Internet abuse has different significant relations on gender and perceived academic

achievement. The dominate place for the Internet usage reflects on the medium and large

size purposes. With reference to socio-economic status, the researchers didn’t find any

significant differences but a small portion of students experience severe problem and

occasional problem in their lives.
