Ordering by length or height. (Focusing in length only)

Prior Knowledge:

I already introduce height last week so I am completing the lesson.

Lesson Objectives: These must be SMART objectives – specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bound
By the end of the lesson, students will be (better) able to:

Students will be able to order by length Longest, shorter and same

Lesson Activities: What will students do in the lesson?

 Teacher Input: (introduction) ( 15 min)

T: will ask the students to sit on the carpet (Sit on your bugs).

T: will explain to the children the classroom rules and she will tell them that if they behave and answer well during the lesson, I will give
them a colour stick and then at the end of the lesson we will count each student stick and whoever has the most will get a small gift in the
end of the day.

After that ..

T: will say that today we will study about ordering items by length.

Teacher, when explaining the new vocabulary to the children she would use real objects such as, ruler, pencil

T: will ask question such as,

1. Which one is Longest?


2. Which one is shorter?
T: will play a PowerPoint (Game) about Lola. (here the students will understand more about the topic)

T: Will play a video song

T: will introduce the centres for the students.

 Focus Activities: (which I will do) (2 students at a time) (20 min)

T: will give this group a worksheet includes picture they should order the objects by length. Using 1,2 or 3. And there is challenge part in the
worksheet, they should draw Longest and shortest items by themselves and then they should order it.

 Differentiation: (abilities)

Medium level group: (with Ms Rubio)

T: will ask students to find things that are Longest and shortest, and then they should draw it in the worksheet by order.

Low level group: (with Ms Carr)

They can go to work in funky finger centre. They can make snake using playdough (Make one tall and one short snake).

T: will ask questions;

1. Which one is Longest?


2. Which one is shortest?
3. Can you order them from Longest to shortes?

T: will ask the students to Tidy up (tell them that they have 3 mins to tidy up)
