She was appointed as a senior assistant in a D.M office since 1994.

She got pregnant and gave a birth to a male child in the month of may, 1998.

When I went to meet Mrs. Heena Alam then I asked to her about Maternity benefits. I started to ask
questions from her which are written as follows,

Firstly I asked,

1. Whether she continued her duty during her pregnancy period?

She answered affirmatively and said Yes.

Secondly I asked,

2. How did you feel (during your pregnancy period) during the working hours?
She told that she was normally at her work and as per doctor's recommendation she
continued her duty in her office.
Then I asked,
3. Whether the behaviour of your office colleagues was good with you or not when they
came to know about your pregnancy?
She said that “the behaviour of my office colleagues was very cooperative during that
period and they all were quite helpful whenever I faced any complications".
Then I asked to her that,
4. Did you apply for the maternity benefits relief?
She said “yes”.

Then I asked that,

5. Did you face any difficulties in getting the maternity benefits relief ?
She answered positively and said “no".
Then I asked that,
6. How much leaves did she get by the employer?
As per the government's norms and policies in 1996, 3 month's leaves were allowed.
Therefore she said that her employer gave complete 3 month leaves after the delivery of
her Child.
Then finally I asked that,
7. Did your employer gave you the salary during maternity leave?
She said that she got the same amount of salary during maternity leave.
She told me that she got the opportunity to get the maternity benefits relief twice as she
again gave a birth to a Male child.
But she could not get the medical expenses relief as per the office's norms.
