Profile
The Educator:
For as long as I can remember, I have always been an educator. When I was a child I cared for and taught my mom, who
received a traumatic brain injury, offered peer support to classmates, and volunteered to help and support students with
special needs. This continued as I went through life, on my path to becoming a physician. I became a pre-school teacher,
surgical skills instructor, first aid and CPR instructor, and much more. Education has been at the core of everything I do, to
such an extent that I found myself torn between the worlds of teach and healthcare, when it came time to choose a career
and college path. When I became a physician, I found so much to be passionate about, especially being able to learn from
and teach my patients. After returning to my home town, I decided it was time to fulfill my promise to give back to the
struggling community which supported me, as I had promised to do, as a high school student. I realized that the best way to
fulfill this promise and have the greatest impact, was through education. I personally feel that a community is only as
strong as its population in the most need. Our high functioning special education students, are at the greatest risk for
addiction, not graduating, being incarcerated, and becoming homeless, which is why this group has been my focus. They
have faced many challenges in life, making them some of the strongest individuals that I know, and I am passionate about
setting high standards for them to achieve the highest level of success that they can. I enjoy watching these amazing
students realize success and see possibility in life. My students teach me so much every day, that I only hope I they gain half
as much from me.

The Physician:
I am a Naturopathic Physician and have extensive experience in a wide range of healthcare fields, both conventional and
alternative. In addition, I have been an educator for everyone from toddlers to adults for many years. I have a extensive
skills, ranging from project development and management, supplement formulation, research and book/article writing, to
personalized treatment plan development and patient case management. Having worked as a hands-on patient care
provider since I was a young teenager, I feel very comfortable in a variety of healthcare and business settings and work hard
on helping those around me to feel safe and supported as well. In addition, I have had extensive experience as a healthcare
advocate, coordinating care between patients, families, and government agencies. I am focused on providing the most
effective and supportive patient care and education that I can provide, and have no fear of a challenge.

About Naturopathic Medicine:

Naturopathic Physicians are fully licensed primary care practitioners, who often have special healthcare focus areas. We
have a broad scope of medical practice, which includes both conventional and alternative treatment modalities. Oregon
ND's are licensed to prescribe all pharmaceuticals needed in primary care, can preform minor surgery, formulate and
prescribe custom herbal medicines, utilize physical medicine and intravenous therapies, and even delivery babies, to name
just a few of our treatment modalities. The real focus of Naturopathic Doctors, however, lies in treating people as the
complex inter-related systems that they are, rather than just a series of symptoms. We welcome the unique and complex
healthcare challenges that so many people experience, for our goal is to support and aid people and their bodies in being the
healthiest and happiest that they can be.
