In doing our task, we took into consideration the following principles in making effective school bulletin board.
1. Presentation of contents should be creative and decorative. Instead of
putting the information in a conventional setup, our design was inspired by the arrangement of periodic table of elements in Chemistry. Though not totally similar, the bulletin board manifests resemblance on how the elements are usually being presented. Moreover, we considered the balance and attractiveness of the board to the learners, ensuring that it can capture their attention and interest even it is located normally along school corridors.
2. Bulletin board should motivate students and trigger their enthusiasm to
learn and participate. Our design provided spaces for students’ achievements and activities. This includes their accomplished work outputs and activities. This enable students to be more motivated and engaged in various school activities, since recognising their efforts by publicising their exceptional works through bulletin boards is an effective example of giving positive reinforcements.
3. Bulletin boards should be informative. Bulletin board shall serve as an
extension of students’ learning outside their classroom. In our blueprint, we have included the following information which we considered essential and necessary for the students.
Mission and Vision of the school
Teacher/Faculty Facilities Profile of student organizations which may also include announcements Name of student-officers of each organization Science facts
4. Bulletin boards should be instructional. Included on the contents are the
specific spaces for announcement (under organization) and information with regard to their teachers (e.g. faculty area, consultation time etc.) and facilities (e.g. rules and regulations etc.). This instructs and informs the students, enabling them to act accordingly and perform task with consideration to rules and policies of the school.
