Lesson Fractions, Part of group Student teacher Fatema Altenaiji

- Overall aim and context of the lesson: Students will be able to


- recall the components of fraction (Numerator, Denominator)
- Students will be able to construct fractions to represent groups of samples
- Students will be able to assess the fraction that represent group of samples

Select (S):
It is a math lesson about fractions unit, part of group. Standard I am addressing through this lesson is learner's ability
to construct fractions to represent group of samples, and assess some fractions that represent group of samples

Describe (D):
The lesson is for grade 2 students in math class. in this lesson I am trying to explain the important key terms about
fractions in order to build students prior knowledge about the topic. through my lesson students will also be able to
construct fractions that represent group of samples in the pizza activity game and assess some fractions that represent
group of samples. The students were actively engaged and motivate to do the fraction activities of lesson

Analyze (A):
I think the students responded the way that they did because they have been having a hand-on material in the math
class which support their understanding about content and build their process skill, literacy, and thinking skill. "When
you combine activities that require movement, talking, and listening, it activates multiple areas of the brain. "The more
parts of your brain you use, the more likely you are to retain information."(Cleaver, 2018) it is supporting students'
prior knowledge about fractions and the learners in this math lesson activities were well engaged.

Appraise (A):
The nature of the experience from the student's perspective is that the experience of using hands-on activity in math
class is very helpful which could build students learning skills and motivate them in the learning process
Transform (T):
I might enhance student learning of this lesson in the future by asking students to create a story contain objects
which could help them to imagine a fraction of samples in that story.
